london - short term accom for arrival

anyone have any good ideas on where to start looking for short term accom in london for me and my partner - will be for as long as it take for us to find a more permanent place to live / jobs etc - I'm guessing about 6 weeks (ish?) can be simple - need clean / secure and not to far from everything - small is OK.

have found some studio / bedsit types but way overpriced unless taking a 3 month or more arrangement...

Where've you been looking? All I could really suggest is gumtree or moveflat.com or similar. Good to see you're making the move back.
