Where are the good London record shops? Preferably ones that don't just stock house

there's one next to my work (old street) called smallfish records which stocks dubby kinda techno. they might be able to point you in the right direction i guess.

Actually a guy i worked with last year co-owns a record label called affected music, www.affectedmusic.co.uk - they specialise in deep techno and other curious sounds. I managed to get a stack of new records off him for £2.50 a pop (John Dalbeck, etc) and took 'em home to DJ mates in Auckland who loved him.

I'll see if i can get some more off him, and also ask him where he and his techno DJ mates buy their records.

Mutant - Click on reviews on that website, and you'll get an idea of the kind of stuff they produce.

Mutant - have you tried Berwick street? Its a quiet-ish street in Soho that seems to have many record shops.

There is also one particular shop I am thinking of, just off charing cross road, but can't remember the name - its also a cracker place to buy mix CDs from at much cheaper than in mainstream stores, but they also have a big range of vinyl.

Oh, and apparently Basement Vinyl in Kilburn is closed now, so disregard that one.

Also if you want online stuff, try www.energyuk.net and go to their shop section, excellent range of techno. Also of course as always, www.chemical-records.co.uk has an excellent selection of techno stuff too.

Used to be the home of Hooj, when Hooj had a home...

Feck they're pretty pricey compared to the likes of Juno...9 pounds for your average piece...OUCH!

and they seem to reserve all the good tunes for djs/people that they know. (from what other people have said and i've noticed aswell) i've found far better tunes at london hmv stores! but my new favourite is vinyl addicition its all good when drinking is encouradged in a record store!
