Obviously he feels he has unfinished business. He will bring the crowd I reckon. Not so sure about his form tho.

I doubt that he will be getting much more than he could get in NZ, playing dev 3 in France. Air NZ Cup salary is worth around 5K per game(with bonuses etc and taking in consideration you participate in every game). French might offer him a better sponsorship deal tho, which might include things like transport, accommodation etc.
[quote]
Regardless tho, I don't know if any NZ team would have him anyway.
[quote]
Well Harbour tried to have him on his last "comeback" ...which pretty much involved him prancing round the training paddock and coming up with 1,000,000 different excuses/injuries why he couldnt play that weekend

Yeah I loled here.....ie the only place that would entertain his desire to live out another fantasy "comeback"

poor guy I suppose, letting go aint easy for some
[quote]
I can't imagine this is a "comeback" in the proper sense of the word i.e. i'm sure he harbours no hopes of playing top level rugby again.

Dude probably just misses playing and wants to get it out of his system.
[quote]
Yeah, I'm not sure on his intentions. But all I know is that 34 isn't the oldest people played on the professional level. Especially given Lomu's reputation etc.

I do feel sorry for him if he's got a "comeback" on his mind.

Does NZ have a 3rd division?

There seems to be a lot of money in French rugby right now, and it wouldn't surprise me if even the 3rd division clubs could afford to pay one or two players really good salaries. A lot of English players are moving over the channel next season because the money far exceeds what they would earn in the UK. They were even willing to folk out big money for Jonny 'Sick Note' Wilkinson.

Exactly. One wonders if playing rugby is the only reason why he's back. If he really wants to just play again, why doesn't he put on the red and black jersey again? Pukekohe park would sell out every week!
[quote]
The reason he doesnt play here ...and wont actually end up playing any significant amount of rugby in France either, is that he's a very sick man whose body simply isnt able to play rugby

gummi...you would think not, but even 2 years ago Lomu would make various media statements saying he was in training targeting his old AB jersey again

as I said....he's a classic case of the had been superstar sportsmen who just cannot let go. Im not convinced money has a hell of a lot to do with it either, as he makes a shitload on the speaking circuit and Im pretty sure still has a sweet deal with Nike/Adidas/someone

he will got to France, play 10 minutes here and there and generally earn his keep by just being Johan Lomu. Appearances/kids coaching/whatever. But it wont be by playing rugby
[quote]
Yeah, I agree Maestro. Still feel sorry for him.
[quote]
meh. Im tempted to as well ...and I am a bit, but apart from his illness he's had a pretty sweet life

Can u imagine all dem bitches that wanted to bang him to see if his on field power was transferred to the bedroom? All that money? All that fame? The buzz of running onto packed stadiums.

I think our sympathy is wasted on him mate Smile

That I would take any time over anything else listed above.

And I believe we will never know how it feels not to be able to do it, when mind is willing but body isn't allowing. Smile

Never vs Auckland

I remember Counties feat Vidiri and Lomu vs Auckland on the Eden Park turf... Adrian Cashmore BURNING Joeli over about 75m. 2nd best FB in the world at the time and never got a sniff
