6 months(ish) self-taught... doing an SAE course too but it's not really cutting it.

MAINZ Apple LOGIC8 SHORT COURSE

This short course covers the basic elements of creating music and recording/editing MIDI music data and audio tracks in Apple’s Logic Studio.

The course begins with the fundamentals of digital audio/MIDI workstations and develops into knowledge of techniques that will allow the user to perform useful recordings in Logic plus develop a creative process. There will also be tips on good recording techniques and appropriate equipment selection.

Topics
• Exploring Logic’s interface. Basics of MIDI, virtual instruments and digital audio. Recording MIDI. Using loops.
• The Logic environment and setting up your virtual studio. Editing midi. Recording and editing audio.
• Intermediate recording and editing techniques. Screen sets. Recording midi and audio. Creating Apple loops.
• Advanced techniques, tricks and tips.
NB The course is based around Logic Studio 8 on Mac, but this course might be useful to people using other versions of Logic, including Logic Express.
Cost: $140.00 incl GST
Date: 12 and 13 July 2008
Hours: 9.30 am to 4.00 pm (half hour for lunch)
