I saw the Presidents of the United States of America last weekend, and they absolutely rocked. Totally reminded me of what rock music has over most DJ's and events.. Which has made me think very hard about what a DJ is actually all about - because just like with a band you're playing instruments - but the key is to make it a) sound good and b) interact with the crowd..

Who was the last live band you saw?

Do you guys still enjoy live gigs, or is it all dance music now?

Last I saw would have been anyone at BDO.

I REALLY want to see Evermore play, and also want to go to Coldplay next year.

I'm getting sick of dance gigs, don't get me wrong I still enjoy them but I don't get as hyped up anymore, and I think this also is a reason why I want to see a fair few bands play nowadays. Got more varied tastes I guess Very Happy

Hehe, perhaps a lack of experience is why you're getting sick of 'dance gigs'. You've been unfortunately subject to sub-par levels of production.. Hopefully this will change in the 'underage' scene.

When you see gigs like Phat 06 you'll start phwoaring over the dance scene again..

I still think rock bands have the advantage over DJ's because they get to speak to the crowd with their lyrics which could be freestyled or even manipulated per crowd.. That's why the DJ, who has the ability to use 'any' instruments - as opposed to the same configuration - has a LOT more at their disposal, but is too lazy to take and use it to their advantage.

That's why I've started raising my expectations of true DJs. They've got tools, effect processors and music. Its their job to be unpredictable and awesome in terms of style and fresh ideas.. Bands are constantly working to put on a stage performance, dress up, interact and jump around. DJ's should be doing this too..

Uh didnt coldplay get can'd?

I believe it was canned cause the 'venue' (being Quay Park Events Arena or whatever its called) won't be completed..

Its pretty bad when a band like Cold Play say that.. hehe :o

Yeah there is still the possibility it may be finished in time, here's hoping eh! Fuck i'd love to see them play.

I also think my tastes are changing over-time (as everyones do) and I can't seem to find anything worth doing. The best night i've had recently was at a mates party...full of good people, good food, good drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), plenty of gorgeous girls...oh and NO hoodrats, no trouble etc. Was the best party i've been to, had such a blast, then went off to High Street with them all for his party there...had SUCH a good time.

Perhaps that was because there was so much House flowing into my ears.....mmmmmmmm, can't wait till I turn 18 and can get some mint house

Im not a one genre kinda guy, so still can rock with the best of them.
Last gig i went to was Joe Satriani Live (for those uneducated few he is one of the worlds best guitarists, really experimental and pushes the boundries of what can be done on a guitar)
Rock on!

The last concert I went to was Velvet Revolver, that was mean and Slash is outta control. But I have a couple mates bands that I take an interest in, both are pretty good and it's cool to have a drink and watch your mates. Cool

I love going to rock concerts, just the atmosphere. Where does everyone find out about concerts?.

I only hear about the big concerts. Generally through other people, on the biggie forums or people talking about them in person.
