They might take a game of the XV teams and the emerging SA team but that will be it.

After this series they will do away with the Lions because of the embarrassment they will cause!

heh, i'm pretty sure the last lions tour was supposed to be cakewalk for the boks and we lost that.

i have a hazy memory of going to see the lions belt the shit out of natal before the tests started as well
[quote]
Anyone that knew anything about SA rugby back in 1997 would have told you that we were not going to win. New team, turmoil about FP being dropped and the coach leaving. Was never going to be easy ... Pretty sure we won like 1 Test the year before that.

Nothing like the setup we have today.

Quote, taken from Wikipedia from South African Sports Illustrated:

"The British Lions arrived in South Africa rated - by their own media, South African media and supporters - as nothing more than rank underdogs. A nice bunch of blokes who were making a bit of history and, in so doing, winning friends rather than matches".

That's certainly how I remember it Razz The thing is, that while SA rugby may have been diep in die kak, northern hemisphere rugby at that time was a fucking joke :>

Like I said, anyone that knew anything about SA rugby Razz

Ahhhh I see. So all the rugby media of both countries, which is normally made up of ex players, and all the supporters knew next to nothing about the relative strength of both squads

Unsuprisingly, when you think about it.....its actually aaaaaaall about Mr *Re-Actions* own *special* little pool of knowledge

makes perfect sense

Cheetahs defeated....3 from 3.... some safa team had better man up soon or the Lions will get some momentum/confidence going
[quote]
Games against the Sharks and then Western Province will be the real tests. Although these games are 3 days apart, so not sure how many players will play in both.

Will be an interesting series imo Smile
[quote]
yeah the more the Lions win the more I like it, I mean dont get me wrong I like the boks more than the Lions....but a bitter close test series would be awesome
[quote]
yeah bro -- i just like old school test series Very Happy

So much better than this tri-nations/one-off tests against shitty n. hemisphere bullshit we've had to put up with it for years now Neutral
[quote]
So South Africas 2nd best Super side The Sharks are DEMOLISHED by the LIONS 39-3 LOL

is it 6/6 or 7/7? Ive lost count. Should be a good test this weekend
[quote]
Cant say i saw the game ...but all reports/highlights packages appear to indicate a solid reaming for the Lions forwards by the safa forwards. Well if the brit forwards are running scared the Lions have literally no chance, and Im betting their tour starts to fall apart from here

dammit
[quote]
Good game to watch. Boks forwards owned. Makes me think that we will get a hiding in Tri Nations.

Lions did well to keep the score to what it was in the end.
[quote]
South Africa dominated them and the score does not refelct that. De Villiers made a HUGE tactical error in the 60th minute (26-7) by replacing pretty much ALL the key players with bench players and from that point we took the foot of the excellerator. What a newb thing to do and this guy will cost us the defence of the WC no doubt. They had to fake a injury (I think anyway) to get Smith back on with 5 minutes to go and round the troops up for one more good puch.

That front row is a fucken MONSTER, SA cried with they made Smith the tighthead and not the hooker but up untill Jake White came along that is what Smith use to play. Time to give Oliver a go in the centres, we will be unstopable with that bulls back line running hard!

It actually took captain John Smit - generally regarded as a key figure in holding the good ship Springbok together under De Villiers' crackpot regime - to interject and move the topic away from Burger's folly

I hope we can win the next Lions game as well and think we will but I really want us to lose all the TriNations and end of year games. PDV will not take us to the WC and have a team that will retain it. If by any mircale they do, it will have nothing to do with him . I don't think there has ever been a rugby coach thats been regarded by the whole world a sa fucken fruit loop Neutral

Springboks are doing much better than ABs. I don't see them loosing ALL the Tri Nations games tbh.
[quote]
Springboks are far too physical for the All Blacks too handle. Some of the collisions/contests at ruck and maul and breakdowns were insane......

Burger should be ashamed of himself -- what a fucking dirty grub! Neutral

yeah, not a good look getting busted. needs to be more sneaky.
[quote]
That was the best game of rugby I've seen in ages tbh. Both those teams would put 20 on the ABs.

So the Lions showed us how to beat Boks. By most impressive defense and outstanding discipline.

On the other hand, Boks discipline has been pretty average.

The Lions are not a very good team. Anyone watching the performance of an over-weight and sluggish Luke McAlistair would be astonished to discover he was rated as one of the best players in the UK club competition. British rugby isn't very good.

I think that given how the All Blacks gave the 2005 Lions a hiding, the Springboks are over-rated. De Villiers is political appointee, not a good coach and he is easily distracted by off the field nonsense.

The Bok's are a bit better than the Lions, which doesn't mean much because Lions series are over hyped money making exercises.

I think the Bok's will get a rude dump when they get brought back to earth in the Tri-Series. I believe they will end up in third place this year.
[quote]
I think you're delusional fishy. The only team that is going to end up in the third place is ABs. Lions are a much better opposition than French and Italians. And look how poorly we performed against them.

Not sure what you're referring to when you say McAlistair is overweight. He looks rusty, yes. But I also think Henry is playing him out of position. He's a 12, not a 10.
[quote]
Dlusional is a understatement.

That Boks performance definitely gave me a bit more confidence for the 3N; pretty one dimensional backline play.
[quote]
3 new guys in the backline in key positions. what did you all expect? not suprised by the outcome what-so-ever and not worried either.

I would have loved it if the Lions tour was a whitewash however Sad

Couldn't give a fuck about the 3Nations, I hope SA gets mauled Neutral PVD needs to fucken go, I hate that guy with passion!
