Anyone that knew anything about SA rugby back in 1997 would have told you that we were not going to win. New team, turmoil about FP being dropped and the coach leaving. Was never going to be easy ... Pretty sure we won like 1 Test the year before that.

Games against the Sharks and then Western Province will be the real tests. Although these games are 3 days apart, so not sure how many players will play in both.

Will be an interesting series imo

Cant say i saw the game ...but all reports/highlights packages appear to indicate a solid reaming for the Lions forwards by the safa forwards. Well if the brit forwards are running scared the Lions have literally no chance, and Im betting their tour starts to fall apart from here

Good game to watch. Boks forwards owned. Makes me think that we will get a hiding in Tri Nations.

Lions did well to keep the score to what it was in the end.

South Africa dominated them and the score does not refelct that. De Villiers made a HUGE tactical error in the 60th minute (26-7) by replacing pretty much ALL the key players with bench players and from that point we took the foot of the excellerator. What a newb thing to do and this guy will cost us the defence of the WC no doubt. They had to fake a injury (I think anyway) to get Smith back on with 5 minutes to go and round the troops up for one more good puch.

That front row is a fucken MONSTER, SA cried with they made Smith the tighthead and not the hooker but up untill Jake White came along that is what Smith use to play. Time to give Oliver a go in the centres, we will be unstopable with that bulls back line running hard!

I hope we can win the next Lions game as well and think we will but I really want us to lose all the TriNations and end of year games. PDV will not take us to the WC and have a team that will retain it. If by any mircale they do, it will have nothing to do with him . I don't think there has ever been a rugby coach thats been regarded by the whole world a sa fucken fruit loop

Springboks are far too physical for the All Blacks too handle. Some of the collisions/contests at ruck and maul and breakdowns were insane......

That was the best game of rugby I've seen in ages tbh. Both those teams would put 20 on the ABs.

So the Lions showed us how to beat Boks. By most impressive defense and outstanding discipline.

On the other hand, Boks discipline has been pretty average.

The Lions are not a very good team. Anyone watching the performance of an over-weight and sluggish Luke McAlistair would be astonished to discover he was rated as one of the best players in the UK club competition. British rugby isn't very good.

I think that given how the All Blacks gave the 2005 Lions a hiding, the Springboks are over-rated. De Villiers is political appointee, not a good coach and he is easily distracted by off the field nonsense.

The Bok's are a bit better than the Lions, which doesn't mean much because Lions series are over hyped money making exercises.

I think the Bok's will get a rude dump when they get brought back to earth in the Tri-Series. I believe they will end up in third place this year.

Not sure what you're referring to when you say McAlistair is overweight. He looks rusty, yes. But I also think Henry is playing him out of position. He's a 12, not a 10.
