I dont know if anyone will agree with me on this one, but I think that the tunes this year have been "lightening" up a bit. Like the big tunes from 2001 - Casino Royale, Bodyrock, Shake it etc have been less dark than say Messiah or Nitrous. Is drum and bass moving away from the "dark" sound of the past few years ? I could be wrong (i often am)

I'm completely into the increased buoyancy in this years crop of 12"s! Just when I was beginning to lose interest too. I first noticed it when Playaz4Real hit the shelves. . . the tracks off that really showed some contrast into many a mix I heard this year. Don't forget J-majik either. Some of his stuff just gliiiiiiiiiiiiides!

i hope marcus intalex plays some of his slightly older stuff for NYE, like just a vision remix or sincere remix. the bass in some of those tracks is amazing ...
