Lack of high capacity venues

to my dismay wellington has a lack of high capacity venues for Social Functions.
which is becoming quite a headache. With out giving to much away I'm looking for a function room that has a capacity for 500+ for an underage event.
not looking at clubs like the garden club or sandwiches which don't fit the profile of what we are planning on doing.
after long searches via the internet I have come up with nothing worth while.

what ever happened to flamingos on the old hut road? have they closed down?
and why does the capital have such limited venues?

looking for a venue that would suit something like a high school formal after party.

either in the city or out in the Hutt.

Frontroom would be ideal. Close to town center, decent sized venue and bar. Done some gigs there in the past and have gone well.

the boat shed is a mint as spot, right on the waterfront - dunno about the cost or anything, but would be well worth investigating...

What about at the stadium? The Deloitte Lounge and Club Room look to have heaps of standing capacity according to http://www.westpacstadium.co.nz/function-rooms/.

Depending on your budget you can take out all of upstairs, front and back, if that don't fit 500 i don't know what would . . . .

Kora sold out at 800 pax!! Nice high cielings for lighting etc.. not sure if they have sorted ventilation issues tho. Gets a bit hot n steamy when crowded

There is a place in Mount Vic, on Hania Street I think. I dont know much about it myself but heard it is pretty big.
