Tag Promotions presents:

KOMA AND BONES (UK)

Saturday 23 February
Fu, 4 Wolfe Street

Tag Promotions is rather excited about being able to bring to Auckland for the first time in an intimate club surrounding, Koma & Bones, Saturday 23rd February.

We are also excited to announce that we have been given permission, for the first time, to use brand new club Fu. Having destroyed Zen a few times now we cannot believe our luck at being able to ferry the madness that is the extended breakbeat family around the corner to Wolfe Street. Please do not let on to the owners that this is not an upper class type of event where there will be many a well dressed breaks fass in attendance. We sorta had to make some stuff up to get the booking! (Also they need not know that Tim Richards is not a drum n bass DJ from Alaska and that Anubis is actually an Egyptian nightclub owner looking to expand into the NZ market). Anyway, we digress; Koma & Bones are indeed pioneers of their brand of the breaks sound and this was evident from the time that Rennie Pilgrem snapped them up for his influential TCR label. With many a single and album release, and their own label, Burrito, going from strength to strength, Koma & Bones really are at the top of their game right now. Expect a slamming dancefloor friendly (what is this ting actually mean, sounds good though don’t it?) set packed full of tech funk goodness that will shake Fu to its very foundations. It official!

Big Daddy Dave says that, on Saturday 23rd February, “you can all run wild with the lovely people at Fu and with the one and only Koma & Bones at the helm!"

KOMA AND BONES (UK)
ONE NZ SHOW ONLY!

Koma and Bones are a two man outfit from the north west of England. It’s been 8 years since they first hit the headlines on a fledgling breaks scene with their remix of the seminal house track ‘the phoenix’ by Scott Hardkiss. Within months the guys were snapped up by Rennie Pilgrim’s seminal breakbeat label – TCR. From that moment they became known as one of the pioneers of nu skool breakbeat.

Through the next few years Koma and Bones went onto produce two critically acclaimed artist albums on TCR-“Blinded by Science” and “Shutterspeed” while finding time to mix a stunning Y4K and the US equivalent - Nu Horizons mix CD. This would have been enough output for most but not K&B – over the last few years their remix work reads like a who’s who of dance music with such luminaries as New Order, Mousse t, Kosheen, press-2, Crystal Method, Meat Katie and Bassbin Twins all receiving the treatment. All this work has meant that Koma and Bones have a worldwide appeal to dancefloors and have played at some of the finest clubs and events in the world with extensive touring of Europe, the states, Australia and the far east. Legendary clubs such as Zouk, Fabric, Womb and Spundae have all felt the Koma and Bones sound shake their sound systems.

For the last two years Koma and Bones have honed their style to a more Electro/French influenced sound in both production and their DJing. They have had huge hits with Meat Katies influential Lot 49 imprint as well as releasing on Lee Coombs Thrust Recordings while at the same time they have been receiving strong reviews and sales for their other monicker – The Albino Allstars. The new Koma and Bones direction has inspired them to launch their own label – Burrito. As well as their own remixes and productions on there they are also helping launch a new generation of beat freaks such as Metric, Jinx! and 10 Rapid. Over the labels 20 releases they have seen huge support from dance music’s leading players such as – Annie Nightingale, Fergie, Laurent Garnier, Funk Dvoid, Meat Katie, Adam Freeland, Evil 9, Hybrid, Mason, Kid Kenobi, James Zabielia, John Dahlback and Lee Coombs.

Burrito is set for a bumper year after its breakspoll nomination for best new label with hot new tracks and
remixes from the boys themselves plus new material from 10rapid, Brancaccio and Aisher and hot Swedish act, Simon Spacerock. The new direction taken by the duo have seen some huge remixes this year for Bassbin Twins, Dylan Rhymes plus a return to America’s biggest dance act – the Crystal Method alongside such luminaries as Paul Oakenfold and Mstrkrft.

This year looks set to be another genre smashing period for Chris and Jude – if your expecting nu skool you may be surprised. These guys are’nt that easy to pigeon hole. Keep it burrito!
