With the Warriors playing so bad, how do you think the Kiwi's will do?...

We've got a monster forward pack, with Rauhihi, Seuseu, Puletua, Galuvao, Wiki etc....but the backs have me worried...any thoughts?

It's too bad Benji Marshall is injured. I'd put him at standoff and Leuluai at halfback instead of Stacey. I think it will be closer than 40-12 though.
[quote]
The Aussies have got plenty of probs too with injuries, etc.
Strange how the game's being played at Newcastle; is this to keep the number of NZers in the crowd to a minimum or something?!?
As long as we're hyped and play to our potential, it'll be bloody close.
My heart sez the Kiwis, but my head sez the Kangaroos (bloody hard to beat them over there)...
[quote]
We will just take back all out Aussie imports. I will we will be ok, probably still lose but don't think it will be a hiding...
[quote]
robbie paul and leslie vainikolo to bolster the backline...

i don't think there will be too many warriors in the team... matty utai and david vaialeki will probably get a look in too... and the dark horse george carmont after a stellar rise in the knights, he hasn't put a foot wrong and looks like a tough customer...

perhaps this could be one of those times where everyone thinks we're going to lose but we pull out a cracker... i'm going with the kiwis by 8... you heard it hear first.

haha

Interesting comments on radio the other day, we get thrashed when the aussies have already played state or origin, much better when they haven't. We have a chance but I think aussies by 10.
[quote]
That's true..after the Origin series the Aussie test team is usually filled with members of the winning state side. Combinations formed after 3 tough games is hard to compete against..always going to be a one-sided affair. So this should be fairly even like the last test when we whipped 'em. Bring back the 'wiz' I say. I loved watching Gary Freeman give the Aussies shit... Cool
[quote]
I'm glad we don't have to rely heavily on the warriors or else we'll be in big trouble. Stacey Jones will have to lift his game big time if we're going to have a chance.
[quote]
is richy swain playing this year?

surely he is ten times the player tevita latu is? he was always a standout for the kiwis and the storm...

on form i wouldn't pick toopi or lauitiiti, as much as i love both players, i'd have puletua in the back row with galuvao, and have cayless starting for sure...

lauitiiti can come off the bench maybe...

also i'd probably have tony at full back (wow thats dodgy!), and possibly throw karmichael hunt/vaealeki/vagana/williams as the centre combinations... i still think george carmont is in with a possible dark horse look too! we don't really have a great utility that can cover wing and fullback whaich would be great... although i guess hunt and vaealeki can do it...

anyone know when the knights are playing this weekend?

I fully agree!

My 2 most HATED teams, i hope they draw 0-0 Laughing
[quote]
My side would be

FULLBACK David Vaealiki

WING Matt Utai

CENTRE Nigel Vagana

Centre Vinnie Anderson

WING George Carmont

STAND OFF Motu Tony

HALFBACK Stacey Jones

PROP Jerry Seuseu

HOOKER Robbie Paul

PROP Nathan Cayless

2ND ROW Galuvao

2ND ROW Puletua

LOCK Ruben Wiki (capt)

BENCH Paul Rauhihi/Steve Kearny/Sione Faumuina/Paul Whatuira

We've got a chance as always............just depend which Kangaroo and which Kiwi side turn up on the night

I think Swain is in England and injured/not avail otherwise he would be in my side as well, we badly need tacklers

Jones lucky to make the side, I was nearly tempted to put Tony at halfback, Paul and stand off and bring in Latu . Tony played well there when we beat the ockers last.

But we need Paul to take off from dummy half and generally trick the Aussies around te ruck

Looking forward to it Music nothing in either code beats Kiwi vs Kangaroos (not incl State Of Origin) ........I mean internationals

AND THE KIWIS ARE

Sonny-Bill Williams (Canterbury Bulldogs)
Paul Whatuira (Penrith Panthers)
Stephen Kearney (Melbourne Storm)
Frank Pritchard (Penrith Panthers)

NO STACY JONES is the 1st thing that jumps out but he's apparently made himself available.................not sure what ups with that, Jones confidence must be so low he thinks he cant hack Test Match Football?

Dont want to critise him toooo much but isnt that copping out? Not sure if his form is that bad he can justify pulling out is all

Carmont doesnt get his chance even though he has played untold better than Meli this year, I guess experience is the factor there.

Fauminia at stand off ...............anyone anyone else get the feeling that could go spectacularly well or spectacularly badly?
[quote]
It's time to criticise our precious little general big time. He's the highest paid player at the warriors yet is playing like shit and then has the cheek to pull out of the kiwis side.

Jones needs to harden up and stop being a pussy.
[quote]
harden up at stop being a pussy?

i think yo guys are looking at it the wrong way... everyone knows he is playing poorly, including himself. and he knows that he would be picked on name and experience alone, and that it would be an injustice to his team and his country if he were to be picked...

i see it as one of the ultimate sporting gestures to be frank, he has put other interests before his own, and realises that his game needs serious work to get up to scratch, and to live up to peoples' expectations of him.

on a side note, galuvao and wiki are up before the judiciary this week so there is a possibility they could be missing the test... very frustrating!
[quote]
Wiki is almost certain to go, guluvao may get off lighter on the fact the guy had been tackled just before him and was going down which caused the head high to an extent. Still expect to be without both of them.
[quote]
Ok maybe pussy is a bit harsh but he needs to show some balls and start running it consistently at opposition lines. When he runs with the ball in two hands he puts the defence in two minds. I've heard that he might still be injured but what else is preventing him from running it?

He's obviously gun shy at the moment and can't be wrapped in cotton wool all the time.

Leulalai isn't exactly playing that flash at the moment either but he displays a decent attitude.

Jones needs to pick up the mental side of his game big time.
[quote]
I know what you are saying supamuff but Jones isnt making himself unavailable for the Warriors ..................I dont really see how he can mentally right for one and not the other
[quote]
Karmichel Hunt WAS selected but THEN informed the selectors that he wanted to play for Australia

Funny that.................since his Bronco coach Wayne Bennet is also the coach of the Kangaroos Mad

Bennett has always been such a fuckwit aye *hates Broncos* Mad

Back to the Jones saga I think theres more to this than we know, maybe it'll all come out in the wash but Stacey is clearly not enjoying his football

Interesting article in te Sunday Times comparing halves in league these days, very few of them are making line breaks due to the tightening defensive formations and that probably whay Stacey enjoyed the most as a player. Now all he gets to do is tackle and kick so perhaps thats why he's not enjoying his fotbal as much?
[quote]
I read in one of the weekend papers that Jones is supposed to be getting pain killing injections before each game.

Stacey Jones has been treated with kid gloves for far too long. As the highest paid league player in New Zealand he has a responsibility to the fans to front for the kiwis.

Playing the test might actually do him some good. I wish Anderson wasn't coaching the kiwis and the warriors though as you have to question his priorities with respect to Jones.
[quote]
Inrespect to the game, Stacey Jones is a wicked player and has held his head high through all the shit the NZ public has given him. He is at thye end of ther day only ONE man and hell if he thinks that he is not performing to his potential then hopefully he has realised that there is someone else i the books who could do NZ a better game.

I think we're screwed for the game and I still don't think that just by having Stacey out there it will change our outcome. A bigger worry would be the fact that Wiki could be facing a 6 week ban for his high shot over the weekend. The idea that the captain could be side lined is another hurdel we're going top have to overcome. No doubt that the Aussi's will give him a ban so that there is no way he can play in the test.

We fed it to them last year and it would be great to see the boys do it again this year but my prediction is Aussi by 10.
[quote]
Wiki deserved a charge for that tackle and I think guluvao was a 50/50 call that went our way so you can't claim aussie bias like in past examples of guluvao would have been charged too.
[quote]
I think the Aussies will be able to put a fifty pointer on the board. Sad to say it, but I don't think we will even be able to get half that. Stranger things have happened tho....
[quote]
I don't think Jones deserved to be there, he'll sort his shit

very suprised the Toopi made it, he's been all over the show this year

Good to see Robbie Paul making the trip, we need some expirenced play makers
[quote]
heh... ANY playmakers would do me fine!

hmmmm Vaeliki released from Friday Kiwi duty because of injury and now he's palying for Paramatter on Saturday?

I think Daniel Anderson will have some explaining to do after the test.
[quote]
we're gonna win trust me Shocked

im NOT happy about Ali being dropped tho Mr. Green
[quote]
Ali wasnt in the test squad

Yeah things look bad.......... but we've seen great Kiwi performances before on the back of adversity

Why did we appoint a ginger to coach our national side again? Sure the warriors performed well over the last two seasons but look at them this year.

what stupid fucken comment that was. Neutral

I mean, i hate gengas as much as the next guy but...
[quote]
It's a slight dig at Anderson who has remained squeaky clean this year despit the warriors failings. The guy isn't even a kiwi which is a tad disturbing and got the job on the back of his performance with the warriors. The warriors are playing arse this year and luckily most of the kiwis are from other clubs but Anderson must be feeling the pressure and his confidence must have taken a hit big time.

The comment was meant to be tongue in cheek but next time I will use the Froggy emoticon.
[quote]
Grindfiend it was also a question? You didn't answer why you think Anderson is a good coach if that is indeed your opinion. Smile
[quote]
Why we appointed Daniel Anderson

1) The Warriors had gone through basically all the available coaches in NZ who had all fucked up big time.

2) Anderson was the man for the job, as he had much experience as assistant coach with Parramatta. He was free of commitments and more than happy to help out.

3) NRL guidelines for coach eligibility sets no standard for hair colour - or in fact presence of hair at all.

After Anderson's appointment as Warriors coach, the results spoke for themselves. Evidently, the team is in dire straits right now. Not something you can blame on Anderson alone. There IS a team out there ya know? On the field? The guys dropping the ball and shit? Yeah them.

He was selected to coach the Kiwi's due to his strong record with the Warriors, as well as a case of "Who else?". However I think this was a bad move and the Warriors have suffered from it...
[quote]
You've raised some good points grindfiend. I have never questioned Anderson's appointment to coach the warriors although I question his appointment to coach the national side. I think you're right in the fact that he had a good record with the warriors and that there was a lack of other suitable candidates raising their hands.

Despite my frustration at Lautiti being dropped I sincerely hope that the warriors can pick up their game but perhaps there is some internal fiction in the club that has been kept quiet.
[quote]
3) Very amusing answer but I questioned why we appointed a genga to coach the kiwis. Of course if we win or are at least competitive then all will be forgiven. Smile
[quote]
I missed the game so what happened gentlemen?
[quote]
We lost 37-10 after trailling 11-10 at half time. Vagana played poorly at fullback and made several errors. We lost Nathan Cayless to a head clash and also lost Robbie Paul in the first half and basically ran out of steam in the second.
