have you thought about australia day next year? what do you do? last year was my first and it was full on!! going to get into it this year. invader or not i live here too.

Last australia day I would have only been here for a few weeks and I spent it at the beach with a group full of fair dinkem aussies drinking cans out of an esky and stuff and then it got too hot so I went home. What day was it this year again?

it'll be the 29th jan next year. i'm getting a blow up roo for sure.

I had a lot of fun last time, just drinking all day in the sun pretty much, but you can't go wrong with that

we watched the harbour display - yachts & water cannons & stuff - then went to opera bar where we proceeded to drink a lot of wine in the sun with a bunch of strangers.

really 29th? I thought it was a Tuesday? But if it is the 29th then that is AWESOME cause the BDO is on the 28th (a sunday, yes dumb, dumb, dumb).

hey shaunie, maybe we should like hijack australia day, get a bunch kiwis together and just basically take over melbourne some more?

Think hippie festival out in the middle of the bush/desert. Turn up, camp, listen to psy trance and tribal music, get on it solidly for three days with no sleep, chill out in the sun drink and be merry.

Well that was earthcore, which I went to a few weeks ago. RSF is supposed to be the smaller, less commercial version of that, which is good because earthcores hippie chilled vibe was ruined a bit by having a hardhouse stage, so there were a few trashers around.

RSF is not really for the chapel street wank set, its for people who want to run around barefoot and dance and be happy, which I think is miles better anyways.

sayra, you will buzz out on aussie day, they're so hardcore. last year in brisvegas everywhere you went everyone was written off running around with blow up roo's and aussie flags wrapped around them, painted on their face.... pretty funny.

After the 1972 election of a new Labour government under Norman Kirk, it was announced that from 1974 Waitangi Day would be a national holiday known as New Zealand Day. The legislation for the change was supported by the National Party, because National wanted to shift the focus away from Treaty of Waitangi problems.

For Norman Kirk, the change was simply an acceptance that New Zealand was ready to move towards a broader concept of nationhood. Diplomatic posts had for some years marked the day, and it seemed timely in view of the country's increasing role on the international stage that the national day be known as New Zealand Day. At the 1974 celebrations, the Flag of New Zealand was flown for the first time at the top of the flagstaff at Waitangi, rather than the Union Flag, and a replica of the flag of the United Tribes of New Zealand was also flown.

If in Brisbane, you cannot miss the great Australia Day Cockroach Races at the story bridge hotel. Last year we had a roach in one of the races called Slobberdownmecockyoubitch.

It is without doubt the funniest and most feral day ever, by the end of the day some aussie shelias were getting dunked in a pool and the crowd were yelling for them to "show us yer map of tassie" Class All Class

Buy yourself a ticket to Rainbow and come! Its going to be choice! Its their 10year aniversary too ..

In other news, I thought summerdaze was naff. Basement Jaxx = Overrated, insipid bob bloody sinclair playing the final set was so so cheesy, everything but the main stage looked tacky and the crowd (half of the princesses were wearing heels) were not cranking, but standing and bopping. Passouts were a shambles and I've never seen bar staff give less of a shit than I did then. Some good work from trentermoller (sp?) however.

Went to Sunshine People last year and it was much harder (HI NRG & Harddance) than I like, although coxy would have been good to see again... I had a great time at Summerdaze in Auckland the year I did go. Poo

What year was that? For me Summadayze has never been the same since the first one at the Lakeside Convention Centre, every year got worse and worse after that and I thought Melbourne would be better but when we went last year it was ass so we scrapped it altogether and are making the trip to GC for Summafieldayze tomorrow

You should get yo ass to FMF thought, that is going to go off and I reckon will probably supersede Summadayze as biggest Australasian dance party.
