so how do you all keep up to date with the current tracks etc.?

word of mouth
music blogs
mp3 stores
producers sites

all of the above?

i hunt on beatport every few days and spend a few hours in the evening listening to new steez.

also, tunes from mates. i have garnered a few from chaos recently while listening to his radio show. he tends to play a lot deeper than i do so he is extremely helpful in finding lush beats.

word of mouth, to an extent. i have a few mates that i trust implicitly, if they say something is good i will immediately take notice and go have a listen. however, i quite like finding tracks and producers that no one else knows about. ill keep a lid on them for a while, its nice to have something to yourself for a bit.
also, i am a self confessed trainspotter. if i hear something i like, its not long till i know what it is.

Pretty much entirely from promos and podcasts to be honest.

I have a good idea of what I like so I spend untold hours listening to virtually everything that comes through and I pick out the bits and pieces that I like and adopt them

Occasionally friends will recommend bits and pieces as well which I'll have a listen to (I get my banger recs from heylady ). This can be quite good as otherwise I only hear bits from my own niche little sphere

i cant seem to find any blogs/podcasts that deal with the particular bent of prog that im after though (really really dense prog house/trance, no fluffy melodic shit, atonal noises if possible, almost industrial infact!)

also lol this forum is pretty damn dead!

Check out the Ready Mix Sessions. They're along he Daniel Kyo, Eelke Kleijn, Moti Brothers end of prog. Pretty cool shows on there and some guests too.

i like a lot of the stuff on that page, but what im *really* looking for is some 'angry' prog house/trance (rather than funky/fluffy/melodic or any of those other things)

Doesn't really appear that way in Melbourne though does it.

There are still tons of awesome prog internationals floating through town pulling big crowds.

And half the so called Techno Dj's are actually playing a mixture of Progressive House and Progressive Techno.
