#KEEPINGITPEEL – OCTOBER 25TH

What Is It ?
It is a sort of John Peel Day, but with this one it isn’t about artists who performed – it’s for those who listened…

When Is It ?
October 25th, the day we lost the great man…

Why Do It ?
To honour his memory and legacy.

for the young and dumb John Peel was the first person to play Dubstep (amongst other things) on BBC's Radio one back in 2003

John Peel = Legend.
His bbc sessions introduced me to soooooo many obscure bands that I now love.
Everything from The Pixies to Extreme Noise Terror and all in between.

Then some guitars beingveryloudandheavy with a man shouting. all last about five seconds.

"Three tracks from Napalm Death, there, in session tonight..."

Peel on Big Black:
"Once a week I drive a nail through my foot to remind myself of the stupidity of not going to see them when I had the chance."

London radio pirates doco features on History Channel this weekend

This one hour, rock and roll history documentary highlights Swinging Radio England, one of the original pirate radio stations in the UK in 1966.

The sounds of the first ever 24 hour rock and roll station ushered in the Americanization of pop music in Great Britain, while flaunting equally brilliant British bands from across the pond, to forever change the face of radio, and rock and roll, as we know it today.

This show brings to you the raucous musical climate of the 60s and the history of this great rebellion in a way that will inform and entertain even the most knowledgeable music lover.

Radio Pirates Premiere. History Channel Sunday November 6 at 7.30pm

I would assume John Peels time with the pirate station Radio London will feature
