How often do you actually have junk food and how often do you feel like junk food? To me, junk food includes but not limited to KFC, McDonalds, Wendys, Pizza, Fish & Chips, Burger King.

I have limited it to once a week for about 6 months but now its creeping back in a little more Razz

Hardly ever.. I have felafel kebabs quite a bit these days, otherwise if I'm getting takeaways I'll typically prefer Subway, or pasta places...
[quote]
This year not so much. Had KFC only once and had McD's once too (but that was breakfast). Haven't had Wendy's, BK or F&C's this year either. Have had my fair share of pizza and takeaway pasta though.

You naturally don't like them or you are suppressing the desire knowing they are not so good for you?

No I naturally like them, but I avoid McDonalds/Wendys for ethical reasons, and the others are difficult because I only eat free-range meat these days. Hardly any of the places even know where their meat comes from, so I just avoid them and have vege kebabs and pasta instead. I will have a vege pizza occasionally though.

Yeah, I see why people buy free-range meats for health and ethical reasons. Call me cheap, they can be a lot more expensive than the factory ones though. For example, free range eggs cost at least $2-3 extra at supermarkets.

I avoid pretty much all of it and i've never really eaten lollies or drunk soft drinks, BUT, potatoe chips i can not give up.
Is beer junk food? Cos i like beer. Quite a bit.

I believe moderate consumption of beer is not bad at all. So I probably wouldn't classify beer as junk food.Very Happy

Never really buy packaged junk food like chocolate, chips etc.

Usually put away at least one KFC/Maccas meal (or equivalent a week). Usually whilst drunk or hungover. <3 KFC/Maccas.

I rarely have fast food except when out of town or overseas*. I had a Big Mac for the first time in about 2-3 years recently - hence the Big Mac sauce thread.

There are many brands of free-range egg now, and some of them are only like 30c more, so there's really no excuse these days imo Razz

I will grant you the cost in general on free-range meat, but it's just not about the price for me. Once you're aware of just how horrific some of these factory farms are, I don't really think it's acceptable to just go "screw ethics, this stuff is cheaper". There should be some things that are more important than convenience and price imo. It's really not that much of a hassle abstaining from factory-farmed meat even if you can't afford free-range though - felafel kebabs are delicious, and there's heaps of yum vege food that I've cottoned onto recently Smile

I am trying not to be all preachy about it though heh.

Only when drunk really... Kebab for dinner after having a few beers in the afternoon or drunken 3am pies. Although I usually have a bar of chocolate before football but that's because I want something light that will provide a bit of energy.

While I do agree with you, a good portion of supermarket meat comes from regular old farms. We're not quite America yet.

Yeah that's true, but there's still enough around. All supermarkets should have plentiful free-range chicken these days, and all NZ beef/lamb is fine (gotta check the label though - most people just assume that beef/lamb comes from NZ, but most of it is actually Australian, and they're almost worse than America with their animal-treatment). Free-range pork is the hardest to find - Countdown doesn't have any at all, but New World are really good like that Smile

I'm happy to shovel whatever fatty foods I feel like down my throat, whenever.
Coincidentally, I was eating processed chicken nuggets last night at 1am, when I took a short break from pulling the legs off spiders and not recycling plastics and glass. Course, I only had a few hours to do that as I was tired from sitting in a maternity ward all day chain smoking.

If you have proper thin crust pizza and don't go overboard with cheeses etc, you can still have pizza and be ok. There are different bases you can make at home with wholegrain flour etc which are a good alternative as well. :>

I feel like hot chips and onion rings like maybe 1 or 2 times a day.

Pizza maybe once a week... maybe everything junk once a week.

Though I don't actually eat it .. the after thoughts/taste isn't great and is a bit depressing in my experience and I don't particulary want to put back on any of the weight I've lost.

Giving up junk food is kindly like giving up smoking.. the craving is still there but it's not as strong.. like I don't act on my cravings...

I eat junky stuff about once a week (usually pizza or the local home made burger place). I drink quite a bit of beer though and I love salty snacks (chips/processed meat like salami etc).

Last weekend I read an interesting (well it may/may not be depending how much you already know about the subject) about the evolution of junk food/obesity.
