So John is currently doing one of the things he does best - he is on holiday with the wife and kids in Florida, after his strenuous trip to the USA - aptly described by one media commentator as "Where he wasn't their as PM, he wasn't there as minister of tourism. He was just there as a tourist."

If you are counting (and I think it is worthwhile to do so) this is his third holiday this year - famously, he spent a month in Hawaii over the summer while the recession stalked the land, then a long weekend when Melissa Lee went down, and now a week (or two?) in Florida.

That is five weeks so far in 2009, pretty ironic given that National are going to take away the automatic right for most New Zealanders to have four weeks annual holiday.

And why on earth DOES a multi-millionaire own a God awful psuedo-pink Mcmansion in the middle of sand dune up in Omaha? Everyone knows his real holiday home is in Hawaii.

I guess that place just a little dogwhistle to the aspirational white middle class, who approve of the achieving of one leg of the “three B’s” trifecta that is the Kiwi dream. I suppose it wouldn’t have done before the election to show your potential future PM taking the bulk of his numerous holidays in a gated community of privileged mega-millioniares in Hawaii.

I wonder how much time since the election Mr. Key has spent in his Omaha holiday home?, rather than swanning off around the USA, clearly his favourite place to live?

That snivelling twat Michael Cullen would be proud of you keeping track of things now he's gone fishy.

Good work.

If he's really taken 5 weeks already this year I agree that's a pretty poor look.

Definitely a poor show swanning off all the time

Does the tax payer pay for his holidays?

you'd think he'd have more important things to worry about

like the price points of iPods

Its entirely possible he works from either batch, does time an MP spends at his/her home count as holidays?

Why?

I don't like Key, but we should judge him on his leadership. If he can be a good PM working 1 week a year, I'm happy

It just reinforces the perception I have that this is a do-nothing Government I guess.

do some people still seriously believe mps and pms don#t work hard?
[quote]
it isn't a matter of how hard one works... but rather if he is taking more holidays than entitled to

most of us plebs only get four weeks paid holidays which is potentially under threat by this current govt

saying all that file this 'story' under we have better things to be discussing/focusing on

like badgers in our water supply - think its a good idea?

good question
