John Dahlback wtf?

Im at a loss as to why this once cutting edge techno producer now churns out cheesy mass made electro house. Going through a stale patch is fairly acceptable but to loose all credibility by churing out crap, does not make sense...

I got his album last week - Winners and Fools... there was a single tune on two whole CDs of music which wasn't utter garbage imo..

He's always bashed records out at a pretty steady clip hasn't he?
Tbh I haven't paid attention to anything he's done in the past year or two but it sounds like he needs to tighten up the quality control a bit.

Don't think he's every really been one to make non electro house or electro techno. Woudn't really have called much he's ever done 'cutting edge'. He has made a bunch of hot burners, but that's a far cry.

He's hardly the legend, say, his cousin is... but he's a solid producer.

Tho I had an epiphany the other day.

The rumor going around is Jesper got glandular fever - this was around the time that he was helping John out making music. Once he canceled a few tours etc. his production schedule dropped to a tenth of what it was... so here I was, minding my own business, and I realised maybe, just, maybe all of John's stuff should be reading 'recorded at Gobe Studios'... especially since he was such a big part of the Svek sound and Turbo sound... maybe he's now engineering for John?

Anyhow....

This album is the first thing of his I've had for a couple of years and it's utter crap. The tunes which have been popular in the last 18 months to two years I've also thought were pretty arse.



Amen. Any chance you have a good digital copy of 'The Real Jazz' bro? I can't find it anywhere - and my ten inch (both of them) are too fukt to record off.

I remember the day I got that, I turned on the radio and it was playing!
I was like 'what the fuck?' considering those were the days when every other Ak dj had NO idea what that would be... only to realise it was Stacey Pullen playing! haha Excellent.
Then everyone and their dog ordered it.
Usually takes locals up to 6 months to switch on to a hit, if they ever do, unless a touring DJ plays it.

It's a strange phenomenon - now that we aren't getting the current who's who of DJing around these parts, or at least, the local DJs hardly make it out to see anyone who DOES come through, there is now an entire scene full of people who aren't following what is happening globally music wise, and just being safe as houses (so to speak). Or checking charts form beatport from yesterdays' heros.

It's a sorry state of affairs when the Aussies have a bunch of better locals cos there's fingers on pulses.

I was a big fan of the stuff he did on Dessous, Mood music etc, but as soon as the Pikadoll and Toolroom shite started up I haven't heard a single release from him that I'd play.

He lost it in a major way.
