End of John Banks if they find he did in-fact make a phone call thanking Dotcom for the donation?
What happens to the act party if he's fired.
Looks like the guy might of had his day in the public arena.

Gone by the end of the week ya'd think...

^^ that pretty much sums the whole thing up

If Banks goes, ACT is dead in the water unless he/another ACT candidate stands and wins in the subsequent by-election.

Hopefully this tawdry affair leads to better laws around donations, something like "no anonymous donations, ever, at all" would be good.

I rekon he'll squirm on a technicality and Key will support it

yeah I'm down with the somehow the rat will get away with it - his entire career is littered with transgressions....

the police have never (as far as I know) laid charges over breaches of the electoral laws - seemingly our elected officals taking this piss just isn't that big a deal

only good that may come of this is the demise of ACT - please let this be so... enough of these rand following tards

Like Trevor Mallard said last night though, how would you monitor it? Would you make it so even $5 donations need to be declared?

I think making it smaller amounts of say $500 max can be made anonymous but then again there's nothing stopping someone like Dotcom making payments of then $500 per day for 365 days a year =$182,500 donation over a year....

Why is no one considering that, just maybe, Banks is suffering from some sort of geriatric memory loss? I've noticed him walking through the parliament corridors in what could be described as a slight daze since being back. That grin barely hiding his confusion as to what's going on around him. Now he can't recall ever talking to Dotcom, let alone taking a helicopter ride to Dotcom's mansion? Get the poor man a bed at the nearest retirement home.

At best he'll lose his ministry and cabinet position over this. He'll still retain his electorate imo. At least until some formal inquiry has been completed which will take an age.

Why is no one considering it? Because it's BULLSHIT. There's NO WAY he's suffering anything other than *selective* memory loss.

I dunno if I'd be so sure about that *if* it goes to a by-election. They could at least fuck off till the *next* election if we're lucky.

Agree with this and if there is the small chance he honestly cant remember then I think he should stand down as having someone with that bad of a memory should not be a minister
[quote]
he hasn't remembered anything of worth since the day he was born... unless that memory benefitted himself

deny deny deny

we've seen him enact this tactic so many times... and generally it has worked for him

You really think anyone, let alone Banks, believes he can't remember?

Brash might
and that nice man David Garrett
[quote]
David Garrett seems a genial chap.

The link that someone put on public address to John Banks on Radio live deliberately misconstruing the term "relationship" so he can get off the phone is ridiculous.
[quote]
Worth noting that if he's found guilty then failing a Key saving him with a law chnage under urgency he's out, any MP found guilty of an offence that can carry a prison sentence of over 2 years is thrown out of parliament (regardless of the actual sentence handed down).
[quote]
found guilty... won't get to that point - this sort of stuff never gets to court

however there is still the prospect of a resignation and the resulting bi election - in which case Act will no doubt switch banks and isaac - seeing as dew process and actual procedures don't mean dick any more

http://norightturn.blogspot.co.nz/2012/04/catherine-isaacs-crony-appointment.html

this countries become a joke - well done sensible right wing dicks
[quote]
I would very much doubt he's going to resign on his own, except maybe from his ministerial post and even that's a stretch, and probably subject to whatever agreement National and ACT have in place.

haha John bank is such a bad liar. He should atleast used a different lie instead of the typical memory lost line. Obviously he had watched too much police 10/7 to be using this line as an excuse!

Officer: Did you push that old lady down onto the pavement last week?
Thug: I forgot au, officer that was like so last week ago. I don't know that little old lady who I didn't pushed last week ago au!
