Ok, Massa has just taken Hamilton out of contention by bumping into him and putting him into a spin ... When Lewis had the racing line on the road and Massa cut a corner, bumping Hamilton as he came back on the track off the grass.

Bet he's not investigated

Nah Massa didn't have to pull out, he had right of way into that corner.

(I'm switching back and forth between this and Bathurst so have only seen the one replay)

Ok just flicked it back over and saw that Massa got a drive through penalty so obviously there was some fault at play there.

Well you can't come barging into someone off the grass. 2/3 of his car was on the grass.

He got a drive through penalty and Hamilton got one for an incident on the first corner which I didn't see.

The real news out of this GP is Bourdais getting a 25 sec penalty for getting in Massa's way at the back end of the GP.

Another ridiculous call.

Bordais penalty was basically for being on the track. There is absolutely no justification for it.

Also - Hamilton's first corner lock-up penalty - what a joke also. I don't even like the guy but that was harsh... The first corner simply can't be compared to normal racing conditions - tons of people lock-up...

Also - Massa's pass on Mark Webber later in the GP warranted a pentalty as he drove completely off the race-track into the part between the pit-exit. The rules say any advantage gained by going (all four wheels) off the track must be given back.

I feel really sorry for Bordais over this... it's an utter joke.

Unfortunately Massa couldn't avoid it once he was on the grass/kerb as he had no braking there..

The point was he missed the turn-in by 10m... if you look at the video it almost looks like he was distracted by the Toyota in front of him... he was that deep before he turned - and it was nothing to do with Hamilton.

His infringement warranted a much bigger penalty than Hamilton's for a normal first corner hussle/bustle..

Are you referring to the Hamilton or Bordais one? If it was the Hamilton one then STFU - he was so off the racing line and had been passed it was funny.

He had zero right of way whatsoever to try to come back alongside Hamilton in the manner he did - he was just being desperate because he'd badly muffed the corner.

You mean that line? The one where:

- He did have to pull out given that he had another car between him and the apex of the corner?

- He did not have right of way whatsoever given the above?

Notwithstanding all of this, he overshot the turn-in point by around 10m, meaning he had to slow down more than the other cars.. His fault. No other car to blame for this. His problem.

He decided to be a cunt and make it his rivals problem by driving into him instead of staying on the track.

I reckon if Hamilton wins the championship, there'll be an investigation into his car setup, and eventually it'll be decided that he cheated all year and be disqualified from the championship, therefore giving it to Massa

The stewards ruling in the Bourdais/Massa incident directly contradicts the advice given to all teams by race director Charlie Whiting.

They're looking like such amateurs. And some bright spark has found first corner videos from the past ten years (over 150 races) which show over 35 incidents similar to Hamilton's but which no penalty was ever given.
