Right, I thought I'd start organising my MP3 directory into iTunes, organising playlists for different genres etc.

So I decide to - stupidly - import my Albums folder as a test (instead of dragging it over into a new playlist). What happens? I go back into the drive to discover iTunes has "reorganised" everything into separate folders for EACH artist, irrespective of the album. Thus, I now have about 300 folders instead of the (comparatively) mediocre 20 or so I had before.

Is there a way to revert it back to the way it was? I guess I could hook up my old PC drive and recopy them all over again, but it might be quicker than spending the next day or so re-reorganising the folders as to how they were before (if I can figure it out!).

heh luckily i was warned - my collection wouldnt handle being organised in any logical way...

Yes its a bitch, Yes there is an option to turn if off. Ive let itunes organise mine now and id3 tagged everything before with a program that lets you tag by directory name.
[quote]
yeah, like Daflash said, there is an option there to turn it off (on mac there is anyway!)

I think I found it the next day. Typical.

Gotta go get me a firewire card and transfer the shit back over from my old PC drive, as last time it took 5 hours...

iTunes still has the annoying gap between tracks though Sad

does any music player play tracks without a gap? My work-around in itunes is to switch the crossfader on and set it to 0 seconds. There is that join command but it doesn't appear to work with music on the HD...?
[quote]
Yeah, I use the 0 second crossfader trick too. It's about the best we can do.

Just seen that the 4.5 update has been released. Worth the 8mb download?
[quote]
Yes you can convert all of wmv that you have borrowed from your pc mates to aac Smile plus its got loseless compression about 50% size.
[quote]
You know, you can switch off the automatic organiser if you don't like it.

I sadly found that out after it reorganised everything. I was just wondered initially if it was possible to reverse it...

But it doesn't look like it.

Windows media player plays without a gap, ipods have a second gap between track

Good thread, must avoid this happening when I get my iTunes to sort out my music Neutral
