hey boys and girls

we are on our way to london, just wanting a bit of a heads up...

I.T & Architect jobs in london, do you think we are gonna have trouble picking up work, we are both in mid career. Also anyone willing to put a figure on the amount of pounds you need when you hit London, to set up a flat and tread water for a bit? I know it is hard to put figures on this kinda stuff, we are still 5 months away as we are spending a bit of time in asia...any thoughts appricated...

Me and my bird came over 5 weeks ago.
Stopped in asia for a week.
And have setup a flat and bought a few things for it and interview clothing etc..
Weve spent close to 13K give or take.
I would recommend entering this country with a minimum 6000nzd per person or more if you can.

I am in IT work, ive been looking for approx 3 weeks. Its harder than i innitially thought it would be. Dont be fooled by the "its easy to get IT work in the UK"

This might be so, especially if you specialize in something or know solaris ( the banks will love you )
But the english seem to take forever to process jobs and job applications.

Some of the job description sheets have april/may/june on the due dates to fill the positions !

What kind of IT work do you do ?

I.T. is real easy to get jobs..... but *only* once you have UK (and perferably London) experience... NZ experience means jack over here unfortunately...

However not paying what i reaaally want, will see how a nother job im in the running for goes *fingers crossed*

cheers guys, we will definately make sure we have a bit cash up our sleeve then. We plan to be in asia for 4 months before hitting london, but I guess that will depend on $$$.
My area of interest and experience is business desktop image development and deployment and large scale upgrades. But I guess the key will be to not be too fussy in the beginning, any job is better than none! Ideally I would like to get into some kind of consulting work in that area.
That's if we survive 4 months in asia.
congrats on the job offer, I hope it pans out!

Hey, awesome, thanks for that raych103 , we won't be getting to London until probably January, so I'll be in touch around then. Looking forward to a few sunny months on beaches before hitting the English winter Very Happy

No but im sure it will definately help your chances.
I guess it depends what type of roles you are going for, most roles in the IT finance sector require you to have some working knowledge of solaris or equivalent.
