Does anyone else use it?? It used to be pretty deace, but all it's been doing for me lately is freezing my browser Neutral

I've only just started using it, and yeah crashes browser all the time. Even on a machine that *only* does media functions and only uses Chrome's built in Flash runtime.

My connection is beefy enough for me to be able to stream 1080p MKV's and the like from a remote server, why the fuck can't Sky or any of the other on-demmand guys supply me some fucking HD, or at the very least bump up their bitrate to somewhere around "moderate", anything would be an improvement on their current bitrate of "dismal".

They're a pack of cunts, behind the times like almost every other service provider in New Zealand.

Inability and blatant unwillingness to unbundle online service from broadcast subscription is one thing, but the worst thing is that you can't stream live sport (for which they now have ESPN 3 - the online channel) unless you have a multi-room subscription... So fucking stupid.

Another example of a monopoly service provider fucking its customers.

It's insane. Obviously, a big part of it is that it's still a very beta service clearly, and they don't really know what the fuck they are doing, so I doubt they can handle the volume that potentially they could be up for, but still.....I'm perfectly willing to give them money in exchange for their service, but instead I do what so many other people I know do, and just use their parents account to use it.

Turns out flatmate bought one. I found this out when I saw it sitting there, unplugged, not being used. :>
[quote]
Kris it's probably not your deal, but have you looked at ESPN 3 at all?

Confused

Can't say I have, I pretty much just fire up the games I'm interested in (Warriors, whatever other NRL I happen to be around for, odd bit of F1). Connection I'm on right now sucks too much to really check. What's the deal?

Also, does anyone else find it asking you to fucking log in again all the fucking time? Like each time the fucking stream crashes? REALLY annoying on a media pc since I have to reach for the keyboard, wait for it to turn on and connect (BT) then manually type in login details again.

Not 100% sure which is why I was wondering. From what I gather it is basically another channel comprised of random live sport and other related programming. I had assumed that there is some periphery stuff that might not be as mainstream as the ESPN Pac-Rim coverage that we get, that might enable me to watch more NBA/NFL or other stuff I might find interesting.

Unlikely to find out though... Fuck multi-room - we only have one TV in our house! Haha

Cool

The qaulity of the HD over the sports channels has noticably decreased since they upgraded Sky Sports 3 and ESPN. :-/
[quote]
God you have to have multi-room to pick that up? WHY?
[quote]
I haven't had many problems with iSky at all actually Confused

Occassionally the stream just stops but if you refresh tab it normally sorts it out.

They only have a limited amount of transponder bandwidth on the satellite, so adding more channels/rolling out more HD = reducing the bitrate of existing channels.
[quote]
But that's just because they're too cheap right?

Confused

[quote]
It *could* be the case that there is actually no more bandwidth available on the sat, but I can't speak to that. Sky being cheap cunts fits our narrative better :>

Same thing going on here with Foxtel. With more and more of the HD channels coming out they are dropping free tv channels, like ONE, SBS and so forth to the point now where there is pretty much 0 free channel TV on Foxtel (suxs when you have to change input channels all the time to skep from poors mans tv to foxtel)

I've never yet managed to watch a single game without at least three reloads which will take between two and ten minutes each, which, in football terms, is a fucking nightmare. Happily having mysky has removed that need now ^_^

dont' even know what isky is.

Forgot I had one of these accounts, just tried it though and as I thought, cannot use it outside of NZ.

So, the purpose of a beta test is to...test shit out, right?

In order to test this service, they restrict it right? To people who have multiple decoders, and Sky sport package, right? As we've covered.

So, the only people who can test it.......are people who DON'T NEED THE FUCKING SERVICE BECAUSE THEY HAVE MULTIPLE DECODERS? I MEAN FUUUUUUUUCK.

Yeah I always thought that was weird. :-/
[quote]
Quite understandable IMO.
Me: offer sky as part of the rent deal for the flat, only pay for second decoder as part of multi room. Cans now watch sport on my computer.
Others: Wife watching watching top model, kids watching pimp my ride on decoder 2, Dad watching sport on lappy. Win!

To the op though, isky is sucking big time. Last night for stage of origin, prob took 20 minutes to get a decent feed, and that was still pixellated to fuck. Also, there on demand options for other channels are absolutely rubbish. Comedy central only has about 3 shows available, as with the doco channels, and thier back cat is lame. It's usable, but nowhere near where it should be.

Out of 5 live channels, only one is working, and it aint the one with the Warriors on. Let's burn these Newscorp motherfuckers down.

So crazy... Little wonder, I guess, why they're not willing to charge it out as a stand alone service. Appalling.
