Is World war 3 about to start?

Cant find the other thread so will start another one. Two comments today on this. I think it is ridiculous to say this. Where 1 side is way stronger than the other we have yterrorism not war. If you think ww3 is about to/has started, explain why. If not then there is no point saying it.

Depends on your definition of a "world war".

1: we have america commiting atrocities...
2: the rest of the world standing by.
3: france and russia are against the un charter that has been pushed by the americans...
4: where's china, pakistan, india, (all other nuclear powers)???? what do you think their reaction will be to america slaughtering the middle east?

will saddam attack israel in response to the impending american attack? will israel use nuclear weapons in response? will america use nuclear weaposn on iraq in the first place?

What will the rest of the world think about this? what will arabs around the world think about this?

A war where the major nations or groups of, are at war with each other.

I think that with our Current Destructive Technology, how we fight World Wars now will be very different to how the First and Second World Wars were performed. WW3 is more likely to start with a Nuke Detonating in American Territory. America then retaliating and firing on a suspect country and it all progressing from their.....

Think about this.. The WTC act, tock over seven years of planning to execute... The next major act could take another seven years, (they have all the time in the world to prepare and we have all the time in the world to wait) And I don't think it will be from firing a Nuclear Tipped Missile towards America from a Rouge State.. It is more likely to be slowly constructed in a brought Building maybe even Hired Penthouse Suit, in one of America’s major states (Washington would suffice for a political statement).. No missile defense shield will stop it.. Because it will detonate right under everyone’s nose..

Even if it means Twenty Extremists a year, smuggling a Uranium Capsule up their ass through the airports or via Merchant Ships.. And then handing it over to the other waiting groups members, once on America soil.. This could very well become a reality..

This is what could start it... you don’t need a Missile to Detonate a Nuke.

Not that I think that there'll be fighting on NZ soil, even if it did escalate into a world war. Not that I even think that's likely. No reason in particular, I just think that reason has to take over at some stage. How much term does Bush still have...?

If a nume gets set off we will have another afghanistan situation, that was nowhere near a world war. The last time the US invaded Iraq it didn't lead to a world war. Anyone who thinks it could lead to a world war needs to figure out who will declare war on the US. At the moment the only countries who would even remotely consider it would have about 1% of the fire power the US side could muster between them. They would never take on those odds. The only ones prepared to take on the US are a few extremists. That doesn't constitute a world war. Have a look at what a world war actually means, most of the world at war. WW2 involved 3 main countries with huge war machines attacking a large number of other countries to try and take them over. Nothing even vaguely resembling that will happen in the near future, probably not for 50 years minimum.

maybe its allready started we allready have america fighting in several different countries in different continents, its a war that we are not really seing. How many CIA agents and special forces are currently are around the world currently fighting for americas economical interests?

jah is right. put it this way, in WW2 there was over 1,000,000 people killed every month. Thats equivilent to ten 911's every single day

People seem to be redefining what is generally understood to be a world war to suit their argument. All that has changed in the last year or so is 2 large terrorist attacks and one very small war. People were talking this ww3 stuff during the gulf war, it never happened. It was actually more likely then as the eastern bloc countries were supporting iraq. The same is true of the afghanistani civil war, vietnamese, korean and cambodian wars. In all these instances the chance of war between 2 large military powers was more likely than it is now. It seems that those who talk ww3 have little knowledge or understanding of history.

I love when people get scared about there being a massive 'world war' - If anything like that happens, the USA will fire nuclear arms at everyone who isn't an ally of the US, and what will happen then is that we'll all die really fast.

lol at thought of army of mercenaries starting a world war. Who would pay them for a start. Even if they were paid you could stop the war by paying them to change sides. That I would love to see. Saddam raises an army of mercenaries, oops, the US paid them more and they turn on him.

a good example of this is happening now.

I honestly dont think we will be a target, we see ourselfs as being much more important than others do. FOrtunatly for us, the americas cup, even tho a large international event is not that widely publicised, so an attack on the viaduct is not as likely as being made out. We live in probably THE safest country on earth, if your that worried, thank god ur not anywhere else right now.

They did worse during the cold war and had an enemy who could have taken them on. The world is far safer than it was then.

We are no less or more safe here or anywhere else Even before 9-11 nothing has changed, it's just the perception that's changed.

BTW if the french govt can bomb the viaduct what makes you think the americans won't to garner more support???

they got nothing to lose and those fatcats insurance will cover it anyway...
