Is there such a device

Does a device exist that will allow me to plug my ps3 (hdmi and optical) and downscale to rca?
But it must have hdmi and optical passthru, so I can leave it hooked up to my home theater.

Basically I want to use my ps3 in bed at night without having to unplug everything and change over to sd.
Downscale to rca so I can use my av sender to route signal upstairs.

If it does exist, what would I call it so I can work some googles, or even trademe.
I went in to a couple of stores and just got blank looks in return.

Never seen anything like that. Possibly you could get a home theater amp that has HDMI inputs and composite output, but I very much doubt it would let you route from HDMI to analog, as there are HDCP issues to deal with.

Probably the easiest way is grab some extra cables to leave plugged into the TV+power in your room. The you just have to bring the console.

I started doing this last night!!!

Oh and my tv upstairs is an old crt, so only stink rca's, which still leaves me with the problem of having to change over to sd before taking it upstairs. Not a huge problem, but its still a pain in the ass when Im too stoned to make a coffee.

If you really wanted to go fancy you could seek out an HDMI Splitter and then you won't have to replug stuff ever

Actually I just realised that cable above probably isn't going to work unless your TV recieves digital componant... which it wont.

So you really only have three options...

1) get an HDMI to VGA converter and then a VGA to RCA converter: ($127+cables)

and you would only need to hot swap a HDMI cable.

2) Move your bed into the lounge

3) Stop getting so stoned you can't make coffee and then lying in bed and playing playstation.. especially not 2 channel SD when you have HD and a good amp!
