Is National unelectable at the moment

It appears to be the case to me. They have no real leader and none in the wings. The fact that brash is being talked about shows hat to be the case. He may be a potential leader but needs to serve at least 2 terms first. Labour, in particular Helen Clark, can't do anything wrong in the eyes of a majority of the electorate.

They remind me of Labour in 1990 and Labour in th UK during the 1980's. I think the opposition are the worst its been in NZ in the last 20 years at least and I can't see them being the govt for at least another 2 terms.

I say this trying to not be anti right, but its hard not to laugh at their misfortune, although I think a stronger opposition would be better for the country than the pathetic attempts National are making at the moment.

Bill Engish is a useless twat and has no leadership abilities what so ever, Jenny Shipley was a lot better than he is.

National remind me of the Conservatives in Britain at the last election....desperately struggling for traction but leaderless and issueless (anti-Europe! haha) and facing a very good opposition. Tony Blair shot himself in the foot. Helen Clark is a very shrewd operator and whether she will do this is debatable.

I laugh every time I see English on the news trying desperately to push National's case. It's so pathetic. As a centre left voter it only increases my amusement all the more

Yes National are unelectable mainly due to that twat English but hopefully we see Helen Clarke and Labour go down like the titanic over her seabed reversal, they have already dropped to their lowest rating in over a year and surprise surprise it's NZ First that picked up most of the gain.

he is such a loser its not funny, I and about 90%of NZ wont be giving National our vote.

Helen Clarkes legacy will hopefully be a centrist social democratic Labour party dominating 40-50% of the vote, and always in government with the Progressives (2 MP'sish) and either the Greens (if they get 5-10% of votes) or someone like United Future, NZ First etc. if they get over the 5-10% mark. National will be condemned to the wilderness on a permanent 30%.

Poor you. Labour are the most popular Government this nation has seen in decades! A "low" approval rating for Labour is anything under 50%....haha.....

I really don't mind if they do stay in power dazed and confused, as long as she backs up her initial claims on this seabed/foreshore issue, i did actually agree with justahalf in case you didn't notice "National is unelectable" at the moment.

However the next election is still a long way off in "political time"

Oh yeah... so on this topic... I couldnt possibly vote National... they might as well not exist... apart from keeping Labour honest in the house.

Remember Labour will not be in power forever and when they get voted out someone else is going to be in. Who do you want that someone to be?

I very much agree with you trapper. Give me national over winston any day, especially if a moderate like english is their leader. I seriously think we may be looking at a labour govt for the next 5-11 years though, possibly more. I hope that is because of their strength though, not nationals weakness.

I am not loyal to any party.

I do not vote for a aprty because my family alwasys have.

I vote for who is best for the job.

At the moment the National Party offers nothing - zilch - zip.
They only argue and create redneck debates.

They have no personality.
They could at least try smiling or making a joke.

If you live in the National Party version of NZ everything is the colour of grey and it rains all the time...


Having said that there are some complete fuckwits in government ie. the Labour party.

Always will be and you can't back one party the whole way all of the time.

Helen Clarke is always doing shit, from the big gigs to the small book launches.
She's down to earth and doesn't suffer fools.

Can you imagine Bill English making a speech at the NZ Music Awards, a fashion show, an art gallery opening - without people rollling their eyes and laughing - he know squat all about that stuff.
