Big Ups Scott Dixon for taking over mantle as driver with most wins ever

Hell yes that is massive. Was reading it this morning and couldnt believe it!

It does seem a bit odd that it takes so few career victories to take the lead. Interesting also that having only won the championship a couple of times he hasn't really dominated like someone with this accolade would suggest, though I don't follow it that closely. This was his first win on a road circuit in ages as well and when he started out that was his strength wasn't it?

Yeah, was surprised at this too.. but then you have to consider that IRL only began in 1996. That plus half of the top drivers coming into their prime remained in the competition series CART plus some shifted back when CART relaunched as Champ Car) in 2004. The two series patches differences in 2008. Morso, the lure of NASCAR also claims tons of top drivers in their prime.

That said, holding the record, any of these records, is great. He's has 20 wins from 109 starts in the series (18% of his races). He's been really fortunate to have spent basically his entire career in one of the very top teams - always with a chance of winning.

This is why, when you look at F1, you see how amazing Schumacher really was. He had 91 wins from 249 starts (36% of his races).

Even Alonso has 21 wins in F1 (from 133 races = 16%) even though he's spent near on half his career in lower order teams with no chance of a win.

Whos getting excited about next Sunday? The Indy Car championship decider in the morning from Homestead Maimi at 9(NZDT) then Bathurst in the arvo. What a day of motorsport.

Hope that arrogant Aussie Briscoe doesnt take out the championship.

Bugger, who would have thought it would go 200 laps under green. What a shame Dixon couldnt get the win, he deserved it. Owell atleast the Aussie didnt win it either.

Yeah, it was a shame he didn't win. But at least it was his teammate that won ...so he can still get into the celebratory mood. He didn't seem too disappointed after the race.
