JES: Singer, Songwriter, Producer, Artist and the reigning “Queen of Roctronica”

Born and raised in the city that never sleeps, JES realized from an early age that singing was her passion and life’s dream. To immerse herself, she began working in NYC studios helping out, and then actually writing and doing sessions. JES honed her craft and her genuinely unique vocal style there. Later while recording in a Los Angeles studio, JES met and teamed up with Mike Olson to form Guardians of the Earth. Releasing songs like “Starchildren” and “One Moon Circling”, GOTE gained popularity on MP3.com. Paul Van Dyke soon took notice of this talented duo and put “Starchildren” on his smash hit Politics of Dancing series.

Through the success of that CD, JES began to collaborate with more big-time DJ’s like D:fuse and Deepsky, producing many more hits including “Living The Dream” and “Talk Like A Stranger”. JES then teamed up with Gabriel and Dresden to form Motorcycle resulting in the Billboard #1 Dance Smash “As The Rush Comes”, which went on to top charts all over the world and even earned JES a spot on the renowned British television show “Top Of The Pops” alongside Beyonce and Maroon 5.

Soon after she caught the eye of the biggest superstar DJ in the world, Tiesto. JES’s music has been incorporated into Tiesto’s In Search Of Sunrise series 4,5,6, and 7 albums. And together, Tiesto and JES wrote the hit “Everything” for the much-celebrated Grammy nominated Elements Of Life album.

Since signing with Tiesto’s own Magik Muzik/Black Hole Recordings, JES also set out to work on her own debut solo album. In spring 2007, Disconnect was released. The album showcases her utterly unique style, incorporating elements of rock with an epic trance journey; JES soon established herself as the reigning Queen of Roctronica. Her first single “Ghost” hit radio worldwide and has been licensed to many popular Dance compilations since. Her next single “Heaven”, with its music video, shot entirely in her hometown of NYC, showcased the more edgy, Rock side of JES’s sound. To help promote the new album, JES joined Tiesto opening for his massive 2007 Elements of Life World Tour. Performing songs from Disconnect live for arena crowds all over the globe.

2008 was a banner year for Dance Diva JES. The end of January saw her release; INTO THE DAWN, The Hits Disconnected, the flipside to her debut album packed with chill-out styled remixes from Disconnect and a few entirely new tracks including a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here”.

In March during the famed Miami Winter Music Conference, JES was nominated for two International Dance Music Awards for Best Progressive House/Trance Track -“Ghost” and Best Alternative/Rock Dance Track - “Heaven”. She performed live on the mainstage at Ultra Fest and solidified her status as an emerging solo talent to be reckoned with in the Electronic Music World. JES also took first place in the same years International Songwriters Competition for the song “Ghost”.

For summer JES scored again with being the only female artist chosen for the Coke WE8 project, a campaign for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Using the theme of “Individual Perseverance”, JES composed “Be It All” to accompany Jiang Hua’s unique and creative bottle design. To help promote the project, JES was invited to perform live at the Coca-Cola Shuang Zone during the historical 2008 Olympic events week and they even put her name on the special edition bottle. WE8 received over a million and a half downloads during its run.


Fall brings more excitement for JES. First up, the release of her long awaited third single, “Imagination”, with powerhouse remixes from Tiesto, Kaskade, and Michael Moog. “Imagination” showcases the celestial voice and lyrics that have made JES one of the most sought after vocalists and songwriters in Electronic Dance Music today. The video for Imagination was inspired by the cover shot for the release and incorporates a stunning visual performance piece as well as the Live Concert film of JES from Tiesto Elements of Life World Tour - Copenhagen show. Another highlight for November is the release of the new Dance4Life All Star Charity album. JES penned “Lost In The Sound” for The D4L Charity, and the proceeds from the album will go to its Global Youth AID’s Awareness fund.


Though the year is coming to a close, JES is definitely leaving her mark on the last couple of months with her nomination for “Imagination” for the Hollywood Music Awards. Also be on the lookout for some exciting side projects that find JES partnering up with a few very special friends to round out this Roctronica Diva’s phenomenal year, including releases’s with Johan Geilen, Steve Smooth and JJ Flores and an upcoming work with famed electronica guru BT.
