International rugby league, whats the point ?

after watching the #2 league team in the world get thrashed by Australia questions are being asked "why bother playing them"

in the Dom post today Daniel Anderson said it was simply "too hard" playing them after they have just had the origin series...

the english boss's have said they are reluctant to send any teams down under because they face a "massacre" especially right after the origin....

there are only 3 countrys that play it seriously and the closest we can get is 10 points on a BLOODY GREAT DAY !

Australia havnt lost a league test for 4 years.

no one, not even the australian public care a toss about international league ! the crowd on friday showed that.....

the Australian league boss said and I quote " its unfair playing us"

I agree, what good does it do for anyone playing them at league ?

Well I think a lot of the shortcomings for the International game can be traced back to poor organization/lack of an International Board that’s not dictated to by the clubs

Im not sure if this can be rectified or not given money/TV are the drivers but I believe that if you provide the product the fans will return.

To start off with they should play a Tri-Series exclusively in Great Britain, you would def get the crowds there and if the Aussies didn’t win/didn’t win by much……….. more interest/revenge mentality would be gained in Australia

Also……….many league players are keen to represent their country, if International league flounders to the point of being obsolete (and we are not far off that now) a lot of top league players will go to Union to gain this opportunity

perhaps this is all a big plan by the ARU to get more league players converting to union

they need the help.

they need to bring back the 3 test series anyway 1 of tests are pointless, if a team losses the 1st they come back stronger for the next..

The current nrl season is far to long 24 weeks plus the playoffs is an extremly long season, for this i blame south sydney rabbits....

They should never of been let back in the NRL, i mean its not like will make the top8 or have looked like making the top 8 since being let back in

Daniel Anderson sucks as our new kiwi coach. He should accept the blame for our demolition and not try and place the blame on the timimg of the test. He picked no backs on the bench and his tactics back fired badly.

I read some comments by Shane Webke who stated that trying to out bash the Aussies was playing into their hands parrticularly after an origin series.

styln - give the guy a chance. Against aussie you need to take the odd gamble to win, do something different, and thats what he did. It may not have paid off but at least hes thinking outside the square.

I agree international league is a bit of a joke. Test series are what might help revive it.

The problem is Australia. They are greedy. They'd rather have only 3 teams playing, and be able to thrash them both, than have 10 teams, and be in the top 3.

Look at the way Aus treats us - they're unfair on our players in judicary, they took ages to let the Warriors in, and keep threatening to drop them, and they basically don't give a stuff about the game here.

Compare that to how we nurtured Australian rugby thru the 70's/80's, even thought it meant they eventually got better than us....

It's all Australia's fault. It's their game (as rugby is NZ's game). And they're not running it properly.

the tri series will be in great britten for the next 3 years, meaning the world cup in 2005 is on hold

also, there will be 2 tests between Nz and Aussie next year...

yeah we were never gonna out bash the aussie's

all we did was run it straight at them, playing into there hands.

we needed guys that were gonna test the defence, run into holes,

guys like, lance hohia, motu tony, robbie paul

mid season tests are a waste of time, & Aussie will always win

robbie paul was injuried, hence we had to put whats his name in standoff

I know Paul was injured, but we needed a player like him to break aussie defence rather than picking a centre from reserve grade at stand off...

Agree with mutant. If they really wanted an international game they would let people like Willie Mason play for new south wales and the kiwis.

The NRL season has to be shortened 5 or 6 weeks if International league is too have a chance, plus expecting players to play for there state of origin/ test side & then back up for there club that weekend is stupid.......

the season would of been about 5 weeks shorter if it wasnt for the rabbits

there are to manyt teams in the nrl

Why don't hey just play one round in the NRl instead of doubling up against clubs?

nrl would make more money with a longer comp
