I am currently over seas but coming home at Christmas and new years, was woundering what were the best places these days for good house music, what night they are, and what, if any the dress code is(hate Dress codes, but kinda necessarry too.) Give me an insight into the scene there if any one is interested, is house really popular or is the faster harder stuff popular?
Any help appreciated. Peace.

Calibre
NSomnia
Wyndham Bowling Club
Grand Cirque

And don't forget the Titanics

Yea - they're the clubs Flavourflav. All good Fridays / Saturdays. Highish dress code is pretty standard. House music is on the up my friend, but hard house and trance are huge on K-Rd

just adding to bungeybro's list...

k'rd: ink (fri/sat), bacio (upstair kiss wed-sat), bed (fri)

viaduct basin: spy, coast.

shore: hushlounge, fevah (neither i been to)

dress codes: guys smary casual; girls trendy...so long its not too gatecrasher, not that i have ne'thing against that, but calibre once barred someone with glowsticks, am sure you get the idea.

peaceSmile

Ive got a friend who was banned from Calibre for "excessive dancing"? Figure that one out
[quote]
bungeyebro, do you mean just asked to leave or literally told to never come back? Being banned is a bit extreme isn't it?
[quote]
lol @ bungeybro last post, well, calibre is not that snobby really, its me fave club, open 12am till 8am, go ne'time before 4am/5am if you are not a member already, am not Smile

just got told next time he went in there, bouncer said just cool it for a few months and then he could come back. Never been back since.... Was at the start of summer so didn't matter much, time to get rid of that pastie nightclub tan

So for example if I rock up to calibre, in comfortable yet stylish dancible clothes, will I get in or do I need to know somebody or be in some click? If so not really the kind of vibe club I would want to go too.
Bungeye- how was your boy dancin? would have like to have seen his "excessive dancing" could have beena laugh, frog in a blender style? the drunken stumble? the henderson hustle(made that move up)
Peace.

Bungeyebro, does he always dance "excessively"? I would have loved to have seen it too. What the hell was he on and where we can get some! Razz
[quote]
flavorflav, you'll get in no prob. door charges $10 normal fri/sat nite, no need connection, least i don't, just pay. the vibe is awesome - none of that attitude from spy/coast which is very much spqr (yes, that ponsonby), am from differ perspective, obviously. don't bring out the knife *peace*

lol, yeah bungeybro, hook me up. liquid@dancenet.co.nz cheers lol

Just a note about the shore bars.

Hush - gets the top name DJs but is very
cramped. Open till 3am.

Fever Takapuna - (not to be confused with Fevah, the HH club night)Good vibe on busy nights & packs out if somebody like Soane, Churchill or B Keyes is playing. Only open till 1am cause of noise restrictions.

Both have had problems in the past with boozers & ruggerheads
but not for a while now.
And both have a fairly laxed dress standard.

http://guidance.net.nz is another site where you can get info about clubs around town.
