I wanted to import an r32 gt-r into NZ and register it for NZ roads, but looking at the import restrictions doesnt look to possible? Have checked the frontal impact lists for Japan and the r32 is stated as not passing frontal impact requirements. Does anyone know if you can get a Statement of Compliance from Nissan Japan or if there is any other way about importing and registering one in New Zealand?

Cheers Smile

You can register it as a race car I think and have to roll cage it and race it at least 2 times a year.
Buy a GTS-4 locally and transplant the engine, ecu, box etc as the ATTESA 4wd system is the same

Yeah was trying to avoid having to register it as a race car Sad

I been looking at GTS4's but in New Zealand am looking around $8000 approx, id rather import a GT-R for less than that which hasnt done anywhere near the 200-250,000km all the GTS-T's/GTS4's in New Zealand have

Im hoping to upgrade my R34 about end of the year and dont really want to spend to much money on a 2nd car. Of course the other thing I was looking at what not getting a 2nd car and instead saving for longer and importing an R34 GT-R. But thats an expensive option Sad

if you can find a wrecked gtr (which i would imagine would be a hard task) buy it and do a firewall cut, and swap all the no.s, and register the imported car as the wrecked one that you have "fixed up"

nah no chance either buy a R32 GTR already in NZ or get one then do the GTS4 Conversion, you can always get GTR panels

not as hard as you think if you know where to look, and or have the rights contacts or at least the right direction

This way of getting a older car registered in NZ is actually not uncommon.

For starters your problem begins with the fact that your trying to import a nissan.

Save some money and get a mitsi hehehe Wink you'll get much more street cred. Its all about the street cred.
