Just trying my hand at a bit of production.
Something fairly basic and cheap, cos i dont got much moolah.

Anyone have any suggestions, or something theyre looking to sell that might work?

Any idea on the brand/model?

Someone else recommended me an m-audio oxygen 8. $300 new.
This any good?

Dude, if you just want a blank (ie no interface) midi controller keyboard and your just starting out then get a second hand one, cheap as chips and you will learn what you really want out of a controller.

Good advice - just make sure it has a USB Midi interface on it (assuming you don't have a separate midi/usb box)

Yeah sorry I was meaning if you dont need any audio I/O, and yeah make sure its usb or comes with its own psu, cause most pc's dont have joystick ports anymore.

What do you mean when you say interface? And what does psu mean?

Sorry dude, um interface as in it plugs in to you pc via usb and psu means power supply unit ie power adaptor that plugs in to a wall socket.

Alot of new controllers act as an external soundcard, it has onboard asio drivers to relieve resource pressure from you pc. Thats what I meant by audio I/O interface. Sorry I not make sense good times some. Razz

Ha ha, Im still behind on the lingo, everytime I see Proof he comes up some new words/phrases that leave me looking like the hillbilly I am.
In regards to the Oxygen 8, it looks all good in theory, Ive not used one so I can comment fairly, but all of the knobs appear to be assignable (thats what counts I suppose). The fact it only has 25 notes would put me off, but thats just because I like full size 88 key keyboards. But if this is not a prob then Id say go for it!! Smile

Well, im far off being a piano master.

You can adjust which octave the keyboard plays, so its almost like a full size one. Its really just to get me started, something to learn a little on before i go spedning all my money on toys i wont use....
