Does anyone here get weird messages when on ICQ. I get all these random ppl sending me messages with links, they all lead to porn sites, does anyone here know how to get rid of this shit, its really annoying.

I get like 5-10 messages a day containing all this bullshit.

yeah I get that to!! its just spam and I don't know how to stop it... some people sure know how to corrupt a good service!

We use it at work to communicate between teams so i have 2 use it

Security preferences -> (tickbox) "Do not recieve messages from users outside of my contact list" or thereabouts


Mind you, you miss out on some legit ones sometimes without knowing

When you set it up you have to make sure that you dont advertise number in the directories...since i reinstalled dont get any spam

you often get these spam ones spamming you multiple times, so just click ignore user and they will never be able to bother you agin with that icq #

The ignore thing generally won't work because the ICQ number they send from often doesn't exist.

i agree, they cant block them because the numbers that are assigned to them are random. They only way to get rid of them is by not having your number out there from the beginning

Well I have the ignore outside messages on and don't get shit...except from the people I have obn my list...who then get taken off my list.
