I totally agree. I work in the early years education sector, and it is only very rarely that I will come across male professionals, especially since moving to the UK.
With a distinct lack of "real men" teachers ( I am sorry but many of the men I have met working in education may as well be ladies) as well as guilty working parents who want to cotton wool their children, kids are generally missing out on important aspects of their development.
Rough play is VERY important for children to learn a variety of skills. I have had to work closely with my staff team (all middle aged women currently) to learn when to intercept in an altercation between kids, because I think as long as the situation is fair and balanced- and no one is getting hurt, then there is nothing wrong with it. Same goes for superhero play, gun play etc... This type of play can be a valuable teaching medium.
Men generally also have a different energy with the kids, without their input, many children are growing up without a males perspective on life. Leading to very unbalanced children .
