so ya cords hang down the wall and look pretty shit house

... anyone know if there is a product that is like a cord tidy, that will attach to the wall... like a channel kind of thing... that you can buy in NZ?

... and aint to expensive.

Conduit

Any hardware store or electrical supply outfit will have piles of it in stock. Cheap as fuck. Mount the channel bit on the wall, run cables, clip cover on.

I've never actually paid for any, but I would guess $20/30 tops at a retail joint?

In saying that, if it's a gib wall, there's a good chance a decent cabler could actually run cables internally. Could be worth doing in your situation with the landlord?

depending on the situation i think conduit can be really ugly. Sometimes youre better off using a feature pipe either white or chrome or whatever.

you can also get white spiral stuff that doesnt look too bad

I agree with it looking ugly, but it will certainly be the cheapest option.

Next would be things like this: http://www.avnow.co.uk/p26/AV_Cable_Tidy_from_D-Line/product_info.html

Which to my eye aren't really that much of an improvement.

thanks fullahs!

this is for my new bedroom, just have a smaller 23"TV, running throuh the walls isnt reall an option I dont think

That conduit stuff is prob bang on... pretty much what I was thinking of... I dont really wanna spend too much, esp. as the wall bracket is only around $35.

But what is this "feature pipe" Bob and any idea where you can get that in NZ?

well Nalco for aluminium ones, a plumbers place for white PVC, drop me a message if you want some clear/ opaque plastic/acrylic. Theres also powder coated or chromed stuff about, hell you could bind it up in pink ribbons. Sometimes being obvious is better than an ugly half arsed attempt.

you really need to find what works for you, your situation and your wallet. I ended up putting a dresser below the tv and using a white wrap on the short bit of cable from behind the dresser to the tv.

oh right, gotcha... was thinking 'feature pipe' was a product name...

yeah was previously thinking of nalco or ulrich fro some aluminium extrusions... but now thinkin that conduiit will prolly du it,

sweet thanks

Maybe you could weave a nice macramé cover out of old dreads?
