Wow! I think I could easily live in Amsterdam. i REALLY enjoyed my 5 day holiday there. It probably helped that Sept had been completely and utterly the worst month i've experienced in years, and i was in desperate need of a relaxing break (and no, i didn't spend all my time 'relaxing' in coffee houses, just the once)
We stayed in a beautiful studio apartment across the canal from the Anne Frank House on the Prinsengracht, did a few museums, shopped in the great boutiques in the nine streets area, gawked at all the ugly british tourists in the red light district & sat and watched the world go by drinking in the cold autumn sun
I had intended to ride a bike when i got there, and i enjoyed it so much more than id expected. It was just so much fun! Even biking to a club on Saturday night (the sugar factory) for some really good electro glitches and distorted visuals
It was so much like a friendly, laid back wellington crowd, we felt right at home.
For me it was the perfect (,romantic)& fun holiday and i can't wait to go back
