Well yes, that's kind of the point. They're kitsch personalities who are well aware of their image.

LMFAO cites a vast range of different influences, such as rappers like Tupac Shakur, hip hop groups like The Black Eyed Peas, R&B artists like James Brown and Michael Jackson, and rock bands such as The Beatles and Led Zeppelin.[15] Both are devoted fans of Michael Jackson and they use many of his dance steps in their dance routines. The Australian dance style the Melbourne Shuffle features heavily in the "Party Rock Anthem" videoclip, fused with US hip-hop dance elements. Also, LMFAO cites taking a huge inspiration from Adam Goldstein, better known as DJ AM, who first got them introduced to electronic music.[16] Notably, Redfoo is a former brother-in-law of Jermaine Jackson, Michael Jackson's older brother, and is also an uncle of Jermaine Jackson, Jr.[citation needed] In 2007, LMFAO attended the Winter Music Conference in Miami, Florida, which the duo says was an experience that inspired their musical and creative style.[17]

Judging from their videos I don't think they need to actually come out and say it do they? Smile

I like their music, its catchy and fun. But then again ... when dance parties were in I ran with the hard house scene, so make of that what you will Very Happy

Thats what i originally thought, but they seem pretty serious and have now launched their own clothing range (pretty much what they wear in their music videos). I don't think they are having a laugh at all (except for their videos but lots of serious bands create "joke" like videos, eg. Foo Fighters).

I think they seriously like their music, clothes & dancing style. In which case i seriously hate them Razz

I met a girl awhile back who said she liked techno so I blathered on about Jeff Mills and Detroit and eventually asked her what kind of artists she liked and she told me LMFAO and I had to put all my effort into screaming "THAT'S NOT TECHNO!!"

as jokey nonsense I have no issue on these guys but people thinking this kind of thing is techno or 'dance music' makes me pretty sad.

It is dance music.

Yeah but it's not 'dance music'.

i'm actually the same.. i used to always go to hardhouse gigs back in the day. And before that was happy hardcore (would still go to a HHC gig if there ever was a good one).

But these guys are all about trying to look cool and setting trends with shit music. They're too wrapped up in image.

Name me some quantifiable differences between a) LMFAO tracks and b) "quality", "credible" club/dance hits.

PS: There's none, it's all totally subjective. Made in the same way with the same equipment and the same techniques.

Edit: I can't stand them either but mostly that's because they're making bulk dollars off a bastardised sample.
