heavenly: me too. I'm learning things, but being interested in pretty much every genre makes it much slower eh!

I also find I'm often lacking in the musical knowledge to describe part of a track I think is really cool. Gradually picking up a few words, but it's a slow process. "oh, you know that bit, when that stuff happened - well that was really cool"

Broad genres aren't too bad:

Trance
Hard house
House
Breakz/breakbeat
Drum n Bass
Hip hop

- being the main ones I tend to think of, at least these days. Then as you hear different music styles within those genres, and perhaps overlapping genres, a new 'subgenre' label crops up. Takes you a while to get a feel for those, and I can never define them well in words.
