Otago look like taking it out again from the games I saw the other week. Haven't been keeping track tho.

After watching the Aus v Pakistan series, then the HRV cup, its clear that Twenty20 cricket is just shit.

Meh - the debate is tired already.

No question that it brings in punters - so we'll just have to see how it pans out over the next 5-10 years, and our opinion of the game has virtually nil impact on it.

In terms of excitement factor - which Twenty20 is meant to be based around, Test cricket is still top dog.

ffs, just 'cos your team plays 3 tests a year and they're in the situation i described about 0.13% of the time meaning you're just about never emotionally invested in a tight 5th day of a test match doesn't mean you need to play down the excitement of test cricket

No, I wouldn't describe ALL test cricket as such 'cos i ain't no nincompoop

If, however, someone asked me what is teh most exciting thing in sport, I'd reply, "The last session of a test match when the result can go one of two (or three) ways"

And the person will agree with me, 'cos it's true

WTF are you on Maestro. The last session of a test *can* create more drama than any other sport on the planet. It doesn't happen every time, but no sport delivers the goods every time. At its best, test cricket is easily the most exciting game on the planet.

I'm disappointed in you. There is nothing 'exciting' about T20 for me. Boundaries are 'fun' to watch, but there is so little inested in the games that it doesn't matter jack.

Wait one cotton pickin minute here. Ive been one of the most vocal anti-20/20 posters from the very start of the IPL. Dont be painting me with some asshat pro-20/20 brush thnks. Looking at this thread though I think Ive perhaps failed to communicate my view properly

Obviously test cricket CAN be exciting, and its def my favourite type of cricket. By a mile. Im not interested in 20/20 and my passion for non WC Hadl/Chappel or Championship ODI's is waning as well. Too many meaningless series imo.

But the majority of the time (95%?)...test cricket is_not exciting. One of the reasons I like it so much is its slow pace, its relaxing. And thoughtfull. Compared to the crash bang wallop of something like league or 20/20, which are sports I would describe as "exciting". Thats what those sports strive for

Again...if we can agree that test cricket "exciting" 90-ish% of the time and slow /strategic/ thoughfull the rest...I dont think you can describe the sport as "exciting". may as well say league is "boring and uneventful" ..because of the half time break
