I've applied for a UK Ancestry Visa and wondering how long they have been taking to process. They have said 4-6 weeks, but other things that have said 8 weeks took less than 3 weeks (UK bank account)

Thin mine was ready in a week from memory. I guess you took it all in personally?

I've been waiting 3 weeks and nothing... Still got about 10 weeks till I leave though.

Honey- My sisters one showed up the day before she left (she had to apply for an America visa first though so was pressed for time from the start). They are fairly adamant about their 4 - 6 week timeframes though and judging from all the signs around the consulate at the High Commission.

Mine took about 10 days (ancestry). I received a call from them one day as I hadn't enclosed my CV with my application (I wasn't aware that I had to), so I emailed it through to the person who was working on my application. They were very very helpful. Smile

FARK all this is make me angry now everyone but me has had it done in far less time!

TBH the money shows nothing as they are quite clear it's non-refundable regardless of the outcome.

Yup - it's the second half that's the killer. Hope you wont have a two hour wait at the other end like i did at passport control... it's the last thing you feel like after a 22 hour flight!

Refering to the front page of today's herald (10 March) the UK have issued a statement saying they are wishing to abolish NZ Ancestry visas....so for anyone who has been putting off getting over to the UK (like me) and is eligible for an ancestry visa, now's the time to get your A into G!

I applied for HSMP under the old system where you send your application in two parts, the first to the UK home office. Took 21 weeks and the processing times were anything between 5-14 weeks! That fucked up my plans and I had to postpone my flights. Visa clearance is being processed currently.

The good news is the HSMP is now Tier 1 Highly Skilled and it is all processed in New Zealand and supposed to be much quicker.
