Sure, you get on with them, but there's a different sort of relationship. The key glue of any relationship be it casual hookups, dating, or a proper bf-gf thing is physical attraction (notice I didn't say sex). There has to be some sort of personality there, but I don't think that having an incredibly funny boyfriend/girlfriend is actually that much of a benefit. I'd prefer a hot, honest girl than a plain girl who is really funny.
The thing is I'm completely honest about what I like, and I think that deserves respect. Personality is often just an excuse for stupid games and stuff, whereas I like to treat things in the simplest possible way.
As for my standards, they've improved a lot this year. I'm pretty damn picky nowadays.

I agree yet dissagree with you there. You are correct in saying that it is a different sort of relationship. I have friends who i think are more attractive than people i have been with. For a relationship 2 be more than a good friendship there needs to be both a different sort of emotional and physical bond put together.

I 2 have learnt to be picky. Its not a good thing if you are just out looking for fun. As im not out for that anymore things are going well.

Exodus.. "different sort" is exactly right, and to me that is formed by a physical attraction. I find it very difficult to be mates with girls I find sexy, and if I do it it's generally not the closest possible friendship.
I think it revolves around two values - minimum required personality, and minimum required looks. For me, I don't demand the nicest person in the world. I only ask for honesty, really. anything else is an added extra. But looks.. looks really matter.. all the personality in the world doesn't mean as much as just walking into a party with a hot girl and seeing the other guys look at her and going "Sorry boys, she's mine"

vadinho - I do postgrad studies at uni too, and so do most of my friends, and I reiterate my point that it is often the brightest ppl in general (brightest in the widest sense of the word) that are the most fun!! As johnyg said, you can't really be funny or witty and be a dumbass.....in fact humour is a superior form of intelligence.

If you have a high emotional IQ (or EQ as some people call it) you don't necessarily have to be a straight-A student or a genius....it just means that you can really relate to people in all situations.....hence your EQ CAN help u at Uni and at the gym!

Anyway, sharing different opinions can be fun, don't you think??

There is in my opinion to forms of intelligence,

Academic intelligence
And practical intelligence...

People might be one or both, a person could be a straight A student but has the social and practical intelligence of a secluded deranged nomad...

But on the other hand a person could be extremely practical, quick, witty, with a high level of social cohesion but substantialy do very poorly at any academical work....

Neither is less inteligent than the other they are just smart in their own way...

Personally i prefer the second type as a person they succeed in their own way and are generally better people to get on with...

It is generally quite easy to pick what type of intelligence people are from meeting them. On biggie i have meet many forms of both, with some exceptional talent in both areas...
