Homeless People

Living in London you kind of get used to all the homeless people around. I usually try to ignore them as you get told a lot of them are professional beggars and make heaps of money! There are the ones that I guess are genuine…the ones who at least try to make some honest money and they are the ones that sell ‘The Big Issue’. A always try to buy one if I see someone selling them and give them a tip too.

How do you think people become homeless in the first place? They cant all be crack addicts can they?

Have you seen that young girl begging in the underground with a baby?

I cant remember what station I've seen her at, but surely she would be able to live on the dole.

Or is she a con-artist with the profits going up her arm???

I guess a lot of different circumstances make people homeless, maybe drugs and alcohol come into it after they have no where to go. Maybe they are the cause of them being homeless.

Yeah, I've seen her. Is that the one on the Piccadilly Line? She looks Middle Eastern? She breast feeds her baby while walking through the carriages with a note saying 'I'm hungry' or something like that.

I did notice that she had a pretty nice handbag and some gold jewellery though! I dont give her anything. I reckon she gets heaps of cash. If they want money they should work for it...like sell 'The Big Issue'.

I hate it when they have animals with them...I usually find some food to give them then. I almost want to say that I'll take the animal and find it a good home, but I'm pretty sure they'd say no.

That chick is a gypsy. They work in gangs and make a living with it all over Europe. In Paris they go to pick pocketing and all sorts! Especially on the Metro system over there...

I bought a homeless guy a donut from Subway and he got all pissed off with me! Grrr

there's a homeless guy that hangs around ealing broad station. the guys who work there treat him real well. let him use the toilets, and the shop there give him a bagel and a coffee in the morning

First came here - felt sorry for them, always looked for loose change etc. Friends told me i'd get immune to them.

3 weeks here - Barely notice them. Usually feel sorry for the older homeless people.

6 months on - Still feel sorry for the old ones...

never give them money.. heartless bitch that i am.

i feel sorry for them. i cant look at them without feeling guilty so i turn a blind eye

In Tokyo there are heaps of homeless people. After the bubble era (10 yeards ago) collapsed heaps of people lost their jobs and quite a few husbands left their families rather than shame them by having no job

They have all set up like little shacks made out of boxes etc outside the stations and are a common site

If they are in groups the person who had the highest position when they worked is their leader

Yeah central europe is much worse at least in england you have to be able to afford a ticket over the channel.

Barcelona was pretty cool as there are heaps of buskers who actually have talent and you feel much better about giving your money to.

The child thing is bad, some of the old ladies looked about 70 and had newborns - they cant have been thier own and if so - stop fucking!

I'm sorry, every time I've tried to help they've either fucked me over OR were horribly ungratefull! Fcuk them!

I had a lady approach me today on Oxford St asking for either 50p or £1 to use the phone as her wallet had been stolen on the tube.

She looked like a normal person, but I couldn't help wondering if it was a scam.

I mean, all it would take is to ask 100 people for £1 and there is £100 for a days work.

Or am I being too cynical?

Was at McDonalds, sitting eating my lunch, a gypsie who couldn't speak was begging for food, I gave him some chips (fries). Felt sorry for him and was about to go and give him my extra burger....

Little shit stole my phone! I had 2 days before I was going back to NZ and find a flatmate to take my room! NOT HAPPY JAN!
