i disagree some techno is hi-nrg, mayb we listening to different types of techno and i guess it depends on the definition of techno.

even tho hi-nrg is quite a specific (craaaaap) genre, it could be argued... anyways u get the point

There are different types of genres within genres.

DnB hailed from early jungle.
Some HI-NRG is Techno, well it used to be.

you could definately say that there is high energy techno...

i've never seen one genre have so many definitions.
i can understand how people can relate their own understanding of music to a specific style they may currently be into. and a lot of genres do touch borders but for my understanding hi-nrg and techno are realy worlds apart. ok they both are electronic and have a 4x4 dance beat with pace but the similarity ends there.
there stills seems to be this wider perception that anything electronic that is not house or d&b falls under the techno umbrella. i could go into great detail and argue to some till im blue in the face but always someone will come along and say something like 'acid trance is techno', so yeah, realy, what is the point, it does come down to a peronal understanding.
at the end of the day we can only believe in what we are limited to understand.
there is a tone of information out there that documents the birth and progress of techno, detroit techno etc. ill post some links if anyone is interested.

Hi NRG came from clubs playing commercial house + techno in a predominantly gay setting, creating a vibe based on (obviously) energy and 'happy' feelings. Hi NRG came into it's own a long time back, tho the name has taken on various shades over the years.
So it does fall under the greater techno family tree, but then it does with house too.... if you want to get specific then drum&bass is a (much more) direct descendant from techno so it all becomes pear shaped if you analise it too much.

yep. as i've said in the past 'the genre debate is a waste of time and just ends up givin ppl high blood presure'.
we are all right and we are all wrong all at the same time. it realy doesnt matter in the end, as long as you do what you do for your own reasons.

Yes there is gtrance and hard-house but these styles kind of don't sit comfortably there either-good call on the request-will give it a shot.

They probably won't.. There needs to be a reasonably high level of interest or something to start a new board. Hence why there is no downbeat or 'sports' boards.

Perhaps Biggie admin could just copy the genres from Muzik or DJ mag then everyone gets their special place.

Got an update from Biggie tech-can't get another board yet as they are doing some moves on current system, something to look forward to
