Poker details updated for the HIGHLIFE CHARITY POKER TOURNAMENT on Saturday September 5th in the upstairs area of The Masonic Tavern Devonport.

This will be a team challenge and entry will be $100 per person.

Each team is made up of 8 (Min) - 10 (Max) players. If you don’t have a team and your just a single player, let me know and you can join onto one of our Highlife teams.

There will be large individual cash and product prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place winners as well as a group prize for the winning team.

There will also be Highlife poker trophies for the 1st place winner and winning team.

Game and prize details will be available soon.

Seating starts at 12.30pm and the tournament will start at 1pm. Food and drinks will be on sale at the venue and table service will be available.

This competition only has room for 100 players so get back to me asap with interest if you are able to submit a team.

All proceeds after costs and cash prizes are taken out will be going to the Ashley Thomson Trust.

Ashley is a good mate of mine and he’s paralysed from the chest down after a play fighting accident many years ago.
The money raised will be used to help send him off to India for revolutionary stem cell treatment at a special clinic that has a 66% success rate on getting people walking again and a 100% success rate of at least some movement in their bodies.

There will be a massive fundraising charity party happening downstairs during the day and night that lots of people you know will be at, so when you finish playing you will be able to attend this after.

Got decimated by Dan Sing @ the FT. Shoved 2 hands pre with cards then prob fioolishly decided to do it again UTG with 7h 8h. Dan calls and shows 77. Theres an 8 on the flop but Dan runner runners a flush

Shame about the teams event part being canned, Most of us went pretty deep gummi and twrecks both at the final 2 tables and Andrew even seemed to hang around for ever. can see why they canned it though it would take a lot of organising. Event was pretty well run in all though

got knocked out semi early after being crippled in a big hand. Blinds were 300/600 - i raised to 1800 from the Hijack with TT, big blind calls.

Flop comes Q 10 Q - i check, he bets pot and I smooth. Turn is a 9 and shove and he instacalls with Q8os. He jumps up all happy because he think I only have one ten. Have to fade a Q or 9 to chip up to about 25k, river is a ......9. love pokerz

Okay so BB in this hand has been pretty random. Often plays like a mouse with monsters, been showing up with some unexpected hands, but is quite methodical in his demeanour, like he's actually thinking, not just haplessly throwing his chips around. Recently, he's won like 5 of the last 78 pots just by leading on the flop and taking it down.

Folds around to me in the CO @ 500/1000, I raise to 3x with Kc 2c. fold, fold, BB confidently calls (expected).

Flop comes: As 3d 5c

BB leads 4k, I have 14,500 total. I've mostly been staying out of his way when he does this and I don't have a hand, but this time I was confident he's full of it, so I shove. He thinks for like 20 seconds, cuts out the call, and sticks them in, and shows....

His 4 is no good, gives me the straight, so he has to hit 10 or 2. 10 on the turn obv, river bricks, and I'm out.

I asked him why he called and he goes "I've been trying to knock you out all night!" lol

Was a pretty sweet day

Saw the most outrageous moves in the first hour though:

First guy to get knocked out in my table called an all-in on the river with 7-7 on a paired board with 4 overcards.

Limped pre-flop pot, on dry a Q-high flop, player leads out and gets called by button. Everyone else folds. Blanks on turn and river, both players check each street and button turns over A-A

Same guy checks flop and turn and then calls a bet on the river which was a K. He turns over K-K for rivered set.

At about the 4th level, I push all in (down to bout 9BBs) with K-Js. BB calls with 3-4os (leaving him not many chips behind).

But Yak's hand takes the cake
