Highlander's new Kermit Green Jersey...

So, the new Highlanders jersey...



Typically muddled, cautious, fall between two stools incrementalism. The goof in charge of the Highlanders clearly has no idea and he made it worse by incompetent execution of consultation process and introduction of the new jersey.

They've changed the jersey enough to piss off all the core supporters who actually turn up, but not enough to make a product anyone would actually want to wear. I mean, who wants to look like Kermit the frog?

They should have gone to a top fashion designer, given them a brief to create a fashion range that has something in it for everyone, and REALLY made a change if they felt a change was necessary.

For example, I give you Stade Francais gear - something for (almost) everyone, fashion a girl would wear and absolutely irrestible to the mterosexual in all men.

I found it totally bizarre that they wore their new uniform at the last ever game they were playing at Carisbrook. Surely you'd launch your new look at the new stadium ...at the start of a season and not at your last home game?

I bet all the crowd keep on turning up in the traditional colours and nobody buys the green shit.

I am, sort of. I was born in Dunedin and do support he Highlanders. I didnt hate the jersey or the rationale when I 1st saw it. But watching them play in it against the background of green was pretty awful. They looked like frogs leaping about in the long grass

I think they will play one more season in that get up then change again when merchandise sales plummet

They can't be too great anyway. In 2009 the Warriors jersey outsold ALL of the Super 14 jerseys combined.

And for my 2c, I think it's ugly as shit but thats what you get when you go green. Yet to see a green jersey that works imo.

that's the real problem, I don't think the green (and purple?) looks bad per se, but it's a kick in the guts for fans/supporters who have bought merchandise in the original colours. sometimes change is NOT a good idea.
