I have 2 pieces of equipment that their remotes interfere with each other. The bugger is that one is the TV and one is a FreeviewHD unit.

I had the idea of perhaps getting some sort of filter that filters one from the other (um... cellophane? Razz)
Do ya reckon there is a way of getting them to not interfere?

don't point your STB remote at your TV

Okay aside from those kinds of solutions...

how about one of those programmable universal remotes?

you could put both devices on one remote and it might be able to differentiate between the two devices better?

Yeah I might try something like that, I've got windows media centre and the remote sensor comes with IR blasters that I could hook up to the TV so the MCE remote could control the TV too. The only things I need to control are flicking between inputs for media centre and the freeview tuner and on/off.

I'll give it a go sometime this week, perhaps tomorrow.

im not sure its going to work if its still the same codes.

only thing i can think of is a remote sender which only applies to one. Full automation would also work but it is $$$$$$$$

Yeah that's what I thought with the codes, although I finally used the right combo of words in google and got a result of some sort, and people had actually done that with success. Dunno how really...

But my IR blaster solution means that I can cover the TV sensor with the blaster right in front of it and it's essentially controlled by the MCE remote... of course that requires the computer to be on, but it usually is anyway.

Will find out tonight.

I don't want to spend money on the solution, doesn't seem worth it anyway cos the whole thing is a bit of a hack. One day I'll just buy all the proper equipment.

So.... MCE remote failed at learning the TV codes... Dunno why, it's supposed to just work. Oh hang on, that's if it was an apple remote, not a MS remote. Will muck around with it and waste more time on the weekend.
