I'd take you up on that Grinder, sound aside you could tell by feel on your ears alone!
Even without head-feel I bet I could tell the difference between Sennheisers and Technics in a blind test as long as we were using a song I was familiar with (as in, had mixed often) and a source I was familiar with (vinyl through a Pioneer mixer or something - not some random consumer stereo).
I've neer used the AIAIAI so no idea about those.
Not sure how I missed this.. Yep, I agree. Sennheiser and Technics have a vastly different sound, and the way they sit on your head is also totally different. What hurts my ears most with Sennheiser is the way they sit on my ears. They actually ache by the end of a big night in a club. I find I have to have the headphones level up a lot higher too and because they are too high pitched the inside of my ears hurts too.
I played for 5 hours in Red Bar on Friday night with Technics, didn't have to have to headphone volume up very loud and my ears were fine. I couldn't have done that with Sennheisers.
Oh and Yak, sorry I didn't get back to you! Seems your sorted now anyway, and I want to keep my Sennheisers for studio headies. They do rule at making beats.
