Hello all you hard dance lovers!

I'm a 20 year old Hardstyle nutter/DJ from Melbourne and I am curious about the hardstyle scene (or lack thereof)in New Zealand - Are there any regular parties which play hardstyle, where are they held and how popular is hardstyle and hard dance over there?

Basically my reason for asking is that I will likely be heading over there sometime next year for a short holiday (and to visit family) and had the idea of combining holidaying with a spot of djing. When I was last over there in january I noticed flyers for a hard trance + hard dance night in Christchurch but foolishly forgot to take note of the name/contact details.

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers
Kasper

Hard Dance is alive and well in all 3 major cities mate.

As for hardstyle, not so much in Wellington, cant speak for auckland and christchurch though.
When are ya coming over?

Hey mate...hard style is not popular in chch unless you hit the underage raves...if you are interested in playing those i can put you in touch with the guys who run them down here...email me robbie@nrgize.co.nz

Well most of my family is in Christchurch so I will definitely be visiting there, and hopefully visiting Welly and Auckland cos I haven't been there in years. I am planning to come over sometime between February and July, it will depend on uni.

Thanks for the link Rob-e, once I work out when/where I'm going I'll shoot you off an email. Obviously that's a long way away I just wanted to find out about the state of the hard dance scene over there before I make any plans! Cousins over there all listen to DNB or pop music - when I asked em about hard trance and hardstyle they said 'hard-what?' Crying or Very sad

Hardstyle isn't much appreciated in Auckland either. More a matter of the exposure and the smallness of our scene. There are about 5 people who play out who maybe once in a while will play the odd Hardstyle tune but you WILL clear a floor if you play more than a couple.

Pharmacy was here for 2 years, yet to lack of interest they no longer do events.

Yoji Biomehanika (although he doesnt play hardstyle at all no more) only managed 200 people here about 2 years ago where as he can draw 3000+ easy in aussie.
