What do you think is better. Hardcore or dnb?

I don't think either is "better" than the other but my *personal preference* is hardcore.

yea they are a even match and are better in different ways
i like dancing to dnb
but i like using my lights in hardcore

DnB would have to be very pitch down to rolll with Hard Dance, unless you pitch up your HD to DnB speed (170-180bpm) which is Hardcore speed anyway...

OK, this debate is pointless, as the two are too different to really compare. BOTH are great genre's & I have to say I've been caining Pendulum as much as Kevin Energy lately...

In an effort to stay staunch, DnB listeners activly discourage the use of Glowing things & shrill high pitch emulators, as they see them as childish.

It is also believed that (subconciously) this also helps them break the ties between Hardcore & DnB.

ONLY in New Zealand.

Pretty much EVERY photo I've seen of overseas Drum and Bass raves, have lights, glow sticks, and proper laser / lighting rigs.

Just not the case with lil' ole New Zealand.

Don't worry, we don't discourage the use of lights / glow sticks / lighting at our Drum and Bass gigs - even if it is against the norm of NZ (or Auckland) protocol.

As for this topic, the whole Hardcore vs Drum & Bass... there's no point in trying to compare either of them.. why start a genre war?

As i found as at the past event (juiced)was dat u didnt need da lights.
i thort i wodnt of ben able to last the night with out ripping them out.

it just seems to have become a house rule in nz (akl at least) not to use them at dnb events. most ppl will think you a noob as raver if u did well dats what ive been told by ppl who r n the know anyway...

At the end of the day, if you want to use your lights, use 'em.

But remember, its not what you use, its how you use them.

If you look like a noob, regardless of whether they're allowed or not, you STILL look like a noob.

So ideally, become an elite lightsmen, join the Anti-G crew, and rip it up.

All it comes down to, is how badman you can make it look. If you can't make it look badman, it aint worth doing it..

when i was in the uk, i hit a few dnb clubs, everyone was black, they also all had glow lights.

Meh the few times iv heard Harddance and DnB it sounded amazing never heard HC and DnB b2b so I guess i'll reserve my judgement

There is one major reason for not having flashing hend-held lights at a dnb gig other than the fact that most people will think you are a hard-dance nutter. Most people at a dnb gig are much to busy putting their weight on the bassline to even contemplate trying to buzz themselves out with flashing lights at the same time.

Also from experience it is reasonably safe to say that those of you who at the moment really like hardcore will continue to do so. Those who are 50/50 hardcore & dnb will most probably gradually slip into full blown bass heads, and hardcore will remain an embarassing skeleton of your past

No disrespect to anybody because it is only personal opinion, but Drum and Bass absolutely schools hardcore.

But in saying that.. they:
a) Can vary from producer to producer
b) Both school most other genres by themselves, anyway!

Genre wars are so petty, especially when they both share the same origin & are the same pace & are as equally underground as each other.

I play Freeform Hardcore, try "Schholing" me with DnB & I'll pwn you with an acid line from hell, just ask anyone at SubUrban who caught my set (pity about the jumping decks though!)

Loving both genre's, always have, but Hardcore is where I'm born & bred.
