MARCH 19, 2003: Bush launches invasion of Iraq

[quote]
The financial cost of the war has been over $845 billion to the U.S., with the total cost to the U.S. economy estimated at $3 to 5 trillion.

without counting how much oil has gone up of course.

I heard someone say recently that the price of oil went up BECAUSE of the war in Iraq. I disagree but what do others think.

the war and all that Iraqi oil that is no longer on the market must have had some impact

as a ignorant layperson it seems that a sparrow farts and oil goes up - someone is doing real well thank you mr bush and all them sparras

financial estimate for the war are obscurewd (for obvious reasons) Hilary suggested the cost to the US was a trillion yesterday - she'd know her husband has a big forehead

I read one article that put the cost of the war to non participanting countries at a trillion too - which I think took into account a lot of the post 9/11 security measures that has impacted on most people globally

read a interesting article last night suggesting the cost of WW2 was the downfall of the England's power and that Iraq will be the USAs

meanwhile people are dying and politicans continue lying

Well unfortunately the price of oil these days is driven almost entirely by speculation via the futures market - I think Iraq generally undermined the ideal of a stable Middle East oil supply and the futures contracts started adjusting for that immediately.

even opec thinks that oil is too high but because of the travails of the dolar it is a good investment for the speculators
