Bah, cant turn this goddamn album off! The review I wrote on it:
The eagerly anticipated new album from Gui Boratto has finally landed, and it shows a real maturation and evolution of his characteristic style. In a time where the minimal tag is raising the hackles of critics around the world, Boratto has added a depth and body to his work that lends it a daunting new energy. Take My Breath Away (as an album, not just the title track) plays host to uplifting melodic crescendos, subtle rhythmic shimmies, hats, clicks, big driving kicks and bass riffs, alongside more stripped back temporal affairs, some beautifully crafted vocals adding a touch of poignancy where needed. It has this uncanny flair for appealing to both your pop sensibilities and your desire for a deeper meaning. It is yet another success story for both the man himself and the label who can do no wrong, well done Gui, and congratulations yet again Kompakt.
