On my way to work out Silverdale, just obeying all rules and past a parked cop car on the side of the road, then I see him pull out and overtake a few cars just to pull me over.

He comes to the window and says whats the safe following distance? Im thinking WTF! So I said at least 2 seconds as I felt I was, had heaps of room in front of me but he followed up with you were far to close and comes back with a $150 ticket for that, plus rego just ran out, another $200, sweet as for the rego but on what grounds could he determine the correct following distance?

I asked him was it my car (evo 3) that got your attention, he said "yes of course, I saw your car and then saw you were travelling to close" but didn't give a flying fuk the ford in the fast lane was doing at least 120kph.

Your thoughts?

pffft...

Jealousy?? taking advantage of power? all these things are pretty regulation these days within the police force - that sucks dude.. what a loser cop eh..

On a legal point of view - i'd have no idea if there's anything you could do about this - so often tho in these cases tho it can be turned around..

I have $1200 worth of parking fines with the courts at the moment!! ouch....

annoys me so much tho - they sit out near union street some mornings trying to catch people maybe going through a orange light ( Shocked ) or something similar... when you read about all these unanswered phone calls, or cops taking ages to turn up to a crime after being called etc etc -- i think they need to get their priorities straight..

it always amuses me too, when the cops pull you over for, say, speeding, and they say "any reason for your speed?" why do they bother asking?? no matter what you say, they still gonna sting you with a ticket.

The funny thing is that he did ask me, you off to work? Are you late? I said na mate I left 15 mins earlier than normal.

It basiclly was discrimination and straight out revenue collecting.

Im writing in about the "travelling to close over 70kph" infringement, I was unaware that there is a need to write 70kph on the ticket.

Fuckin bastard discrimatory cops, I had exactly the same thing when I had my Familiar GTX, fined $150 for following too closely and I wasn't but I was young with a 'boy racer' car

Strangely enough since ive had my skyline (which sticks out like a sore thumb much more than the GTX) I've only been pulled over once in the last 3 years and that was a warning for excessive Laughing acceleration on to the motorway

The damn thing might fall over though... Razz

That is sucks, funkie. It infuriates me that our country passes laws that basically say "you may penalise anyone you don't like the look of".
